First impressions. Its not as thick as I thought, which is good. During intial setup the pixel watch app on phone gives you a tutorial on how to remove and put on the strap. The videos you see on youtube describe it as being more complicated than it seems, and it really isnt. Its a lot easier than you think. The watch comes with one long strap already attached with a shorter one as a spare in the box, a nice value add imo. UI is quite smooth, I was afraid it would feel jittery considering this is google's first attempt at a watch. Installed fitbit mobile on my phone and paired with the watch for the lulz, I dont use fitness features on all my smartwatches.
Will continue using it over the next few days when I go to work, hope the battery is good for my useage.

How's the gpay for transportation. I heard Samsung watch with gpay. On bus is ok. But mrt station have issues. Is it the same?Ok had a full day's use of the watch today, I am liking it so far. It is very comfortable despite it being larger than some of the competing watches. I dont really notice the watch there on my wrist while I was at work.
The watch has 3 manual levels of brightness only, and can still be quite dim even at max level. However there is auto brightness that can be toggled on/off and when set to this mode can make the display even brighter than the max brightness (similar to our phones) I never had any visibility issues with the watch, although I have not tried using it outdoor under the sun.
Made a contactless payment with the watch via Gpay today, works just fine as it should. So if any of you have any concerns with the Japan sets having incompability with payment here, this should clear things up.
The default strap is really long. I have small wrists so I am using the 1st hole on the strap, fit is a little tigher than I would normally like but still comfortable without being restrictive.
Notifications vibrate the watch with haptics (and also with sound, if you did not silence the watch) but I am still a little confused as it sometimes automatically shows me the notification as I look at the watch, but other times I had to tap the watch to manually bring up the notifications to read it. Will test more as I keep using.
On-screen keyboard to reply messages works similarly to how other competing smartwatches function. Only used it once today, but it looks and feels pretty much the same as any other watch with the same functionality.
As for battery life, the watch was unplugged from charger at 6am today. I reached home at 8.40pm with about 44% battery left. And at 6pm (the 12th hour mark) the battery was at 55%. So based on this, its safe to assume that Google's up to 24hr battery life claim on the pixel watch seems to be fairly accurate, but as always your mileage will vary. FYI I don't have GPS enabled on the watch, tilt to wake has been disabled (turned on by default, huge battery drainer) but I have AOD enabled because thats how I always want my smartwatches to be.
Overall first day impression is positive. Battery life is the biggest concern I had. While it was more than enough juice to last my entire day's activities, I can see how this is not going to suit the people who continually wear their watches until they go to bed for sleep tracking. Fortunately I've never had a need.

No need. But I had smart lock enabled so yeah..
congrads. you just made 2 full trip payment.Ok I just tried tapping out of the MRT using my watch. The watch shows that the tap was successful along with vibration to confirm it. But gantry didn't reflect this and it of course didn't open. Tried one more time, same thing happened but gantry didn't open.
I had to resort to opening the gpay app on my phone to check, it did show my initial transaction when I tapped in to board the platform, but not the exit. So I tapped out using the same card in Google pay via my phone and it worked fine
So not sure what went wrong here. If it's a watch/software issue or if it's the way my Google pay or cards were set up. But I believe it's more of an implemention problem.
My Google pay history only showed the successful ones. Unless my bank account also reflected the 2 taps I made but gantry didn't open. Haven't checked yet.congrads. you just made 2 full trip payment.
