I think this one is not difficult, as long as one correctly identifies that the 18 cm also applies to the other side where the white triangle is, I had marked this out.

After that the side of the triangle, AB, is simply 41 - 18 + 3 = 26 cm.

Then the side of the other triangle is simply 26 - 18 = 8 cm.

Perimeter of the shaded parts = 26 + 18 + 18 + 8 (for the left portion) + 26 + (26-3) + (26-3) + 3 (for the right portion) = 145 cm.

no need algebra..I did with algebra but just thought of a way that doesn't require it. need to visualize them as 1 imperfect triangle and 2 triangles with the same imperfection
