Wow 200 revolutions . It's like morning resistance training for your arms.
Anyway, we should probably wait for coolben to say his budget before overwhelming him with suggestions.

I have to workout when I brew chemex need to turn a good 10-20 mins fast to get 40gm of coffee.

Fine grinds, clumping and retaintion is a big deal.
Barista also ask for equal particle size those are costly as most are design to produce fine and uneven particle size.

My MCF or eureka is in that budget does a good job but has a lot of retaintion issue and clumping. Wild about fresh grounds there will be a lot more waste. V30 don't have such issue, if u can find preown mdx it's a steal as they often go for usd$400 (new over usd$1k) just need to get transformer.

can consider baratza vario too for minimal grind retention. best is of course handgrinders for 0 grind retention and single dosing. I've not come across any electric grinder that can single dose effectively. 20grams in 20 grams out.

edit...forgot about the versalab m3.. electric grinder with good single dosing.

Haha... Yeah, but coming from a hario slim. I don't think I will have any complaints. Now my Usual is about 200 revolutions?

consider lido2/3, hausgrind (beware of super slow delivery and non-existent customer service, awesome product otherwise),

not that expensive but more consistency in the grinds. will make a more consistent espresso and easier to dial in. Hario slim very hard to dial in for espresso. the steps between the settings are too wide.

Am also looking to upgrade coffee experience from a Nespresso. Not that it's bad, the speed and convenience is quite unparalleled, but it's just plain boring.

My budget is around 2k for a set up including the grinder. And so far I have only only managed to short list the Bezzera BZ09 + BB05 + accessories which will be around that price mark. My usage is mainly espresso x 1 daily, plus another latte during weekends. Some questions -

1) what are the other alternatives I have at that mark? Prefer local merchants for warranty issues. How does it compare to the Expobar Office series which is a heat exchanger. I'm superficial but they look more modernish and for office usage to me. I also see Expobar are assembled in China, while Bezerra is made in Italy. Is that worth the Berreza premium as its a single boiler which is no frills as compared to the Expobar?

2) BZ I understand is bit faster than the tradition E61. Typically how long does it take for it to warm up and make my espresso in the morning?

3) what are the maintanence I am looking at? In terms of cleaning and regular up keep?

4) it's a single boiler, what is the additional time required to make a single milk drink? Is it really that bad?

5) I'm also looking to use it like a instant hot water dispenser for occasional tea bags and milo. Is that realistic? Or am I oversimplifying?

1. If you don't mind 2nd hand, checkout carousell. I don't have any experience with bz09 so can't help you with that.
2. BZ13 takes 8min to stabilise temperature, BZ09 no idea. Ask the supplier? They've always been very prompt in answering my questions.
3.I scrub the grouphead every shot, wipe steam wand immediately after use. Backflush monthly. Haven't descaled yet but according to MO thread, only descale when water flow seems obstructed and a few days apart from backflush.
4.No idea, bz09 boiler is only 0.5l so maybe couple of minutes? Again, ask supplier.
5.I do use a steam wand for the occasional hot chocolate. I've watched videos of people steaming eggs with it..

The K30 has some so need to throw some out, hand grinder also have some trap in the groves ~2gms.

I was ok with my old comparable Silvia for 6 yrs until it broke and time to upgrade. Have to agree 2 person drinks it's ok.

When I upgrade to e61 I like it better than my old machine.

I think it will be another 10 years till I can change to a hx machine since Silvia is really built to last , not complaining at all.

@patryn33 I believe you're talking about the mahlkonig k30, there's no v30. Just clearing things up in case it confuse some readers.

Both the mythos and k30 have the least amount of retention for espresso on demand grinders. They also have great distribution and minimal clumping. Which makes them the best grinders in the market now imo.

That thing is a huge like EK43.
Mazzer robur and compak F10 low retention but expensive
NS mythos use a flat vertical burr design which seem to have a lot of advantage.

anyone using rotary pump machine for their home?

I am thinking of purchasing a used machine but the location im trying to put my machine has no water outlet. Im thinking of placing the water source in a container that will feed the machine using gravitational force.

Another alternative would be flojet + accumulator. Anyone know of any retailers who sells the following item?

A quick google gave me 2 distributors. Pentair for shur flo accumulator and xylem for flojet. You can ask them for retailers.

Me!! It has been a very long wait since December! The hario skerton is too much of a hassle to use in the morning when you are rushing for work. Too many revolution and takes too long for a 16g dose.

Oh crap! Did you receive their update? I think we can only be receiving around August or September. Zzzzzzzzzzz...

Did a check with Necessary Provision. They don't have the quickmill HX models for sale now, lowest priced would be a double boiler with PID. Kinda out of my budget, and I don't need that capacity for my home use.

I think k30 does have clumping issues although I think there was a newer version of k30 with lesser clumping. The upcoming Mahlkonig Peak is supposed to fix that.
Also, check out Tim Wendelboe's new videos on espresso, brewing and roasting on youtube. Tim Wendelboe's videos
