I would suggest that you not mix grinding angmo and Chinese coffee. The Chinese coffee contains tons of burnt margarine/sugar(?). Running them through your grinder will leave a strong aftertaste, that will affect your subsequent grinds. You'll need to clean the burrs throughly.

Alternative is to buy another grinder. But never tried making espresso shots with Chinese kopi.

Yeah. I intend to get a separate grinder for that purpose. But before that, just wanted to find how fine a grind would work better. Cheers.

Any single boiler PID espresso machine to recommend locally? Seems only Lelit Victoria but the boiler is on the smaller side?

Wonder if we can get ECM Classika PID or Bezzera Unica here?

BTW anyone knows where to get good decaf beans? Not a lot of roasters carry decaf, and am sourcing for options.

These are the roasters i can find:
Dutch Colony
Cowpresso
Common Man
Jimmy Monkey (needs 1kg order?)

What’s your concern with boiler size? Cannot get enough steam for milk? I think u have a budget top of like 1.5k

ECM boiler is 0.7L and it’s like usd$1.4k. Here sgd$1.7k before, maybe u can order and wait

Lelit Victoria has the auto fill featured or is 300ml boiler, sgd$1.4k

Papa Palheta has decaf recently.

You can also get decaf from Ona Coffee. Order from Cafebond.

I have a gaggia classic, now using the plastic tamper which doesn't fit in my portafilter. Should I get a tamper or Jack Leveler?

best ROI to me is v60.

Get a plastic v60
handgrinder grinder e.g. porlex
bleached filter papers
Good beans of course, nylon, cafebond, compound coffee etc filter roast 7-14 days post roast
Goodneck kettle is optional but really helps.
Brewista scale

Follow Matt perger's v60 routine. see youtube.

viola coffee heaven.

Upgraded filter gear

kalita wave, slightly more expensive but much easier to brew than v60. Slightly less clarity
better handgrinder - comandante, 1zpresso, kinu etc.
Kalita wave bleached filter papers.
Ninety plus rated speciality filter roast coffee - Ona coffee, Ninety plus coffees
Brewista gooseneck with temp control
Acaia lunar scale to track your flowrate with app.

Aeropress is good but i find messy to clean. also still prefer pourover for clarity of flavours.

If you like nice visual effect. go for syphon pot. Can make good coffee but more leh cheh and still less clarity of flavours than pourovers.

Dont want to waste so much effort to brew and prefer ice coffee? Get hario cold brew. dump 60g of coarse roasted coffee in the filter. Fill up with 500g of water and refrigerate for 8-12 hours.

want something interesting? get moka pot. Make moka pot coffee and freeze it into ice cubes tray. Add coffee ice cubes to cold milk.

TBH tamper than is to small just requires you to "tamp" a few times to flatten it. But yes getting a tamper that fits or is calibrated really helps to achieve consistency which i find is key to being able to achieve great espresso.

Have not tried these kind of distribution tools but I am skeptical whether they work to improve the coffee extraction . See socratic coffee on the tests they did for ona coffee's leveler.

Thanks a lot for the great summary! I actually ordered the Aeropress a couple hours after my post haha.

But I might still go for the Hario Cold Brew since I usually prefer my coffee iced anyway, especially in this **** weather.

Btw also ordered some beans from perk coffee. It's weird they have like 2 promos for first time orders. On their facebook ad was 2 bags for $13.xx. But on insta it was only $9.xx. So took the $9.xx one just to try. After this maybe try other places.

Aeropress is still good. I find the upside down brewing method has more consistent results for aeropress. u can use very coarse grinds to make it like a french press type of infusion brewing without the grit in your cup if you used a normal french press.
U can check out alot of the different aeropress recipes on line.

If you get a porlex or aergrind you can slot your grinder in your aeropress plunger and have a very portable setup when you travel.

A lifesaver if you have to travel to places with no good coffee.

For me, the perfect balance between flavor and ease of use and cleaning is Hario V60.

If you’re not looking to buy an electric grinder, I suspect you will very soon be. It’s a pain in the butt. Once you wanna buy an electric grinder, that’s when a whole new world opens up.

I’ve owned 7 grinders in my life. They come and go. The winner so far is the Niche Zero single dose grinder. If this existed from the start, I would’ve only needed this one.

The Niche Zero is perfect for people who OCD over freshness and grind retention at home. Perfect size for a typical Singaporean home, great specs, great taste.

btw, I'm trying this roaster at Lazada $5.90 per 250g pack. ( Pak Song Coffee ).

Because I compared normal microroasters vs Starbucks, can't really feel the difference maybe I'm a latte drinker.

Now I try the Pak Song ( Vietnam ) see if it's good or not. Anyone here tried?
