2) Smart Grinder
3) Baratza
4) Infinity
5) BB005

Any other reco also welcome!
What's wrong with your current grinder?

yeah, i shld have gotten the quamar, but i think too late already. I passed my grinder to my parent's place. Now i using my porlex. each time grinding is a workout T_T.

I looking for these:

1) On-demand grinding (seems like baratza's mostly dont have this)
2) Portaholder
3) Press to espresso (travel press in morning, espresso at night)
4) Static
5) Home use (no need huge hopper)

Need some reco and shops which sell. i'm still stuck with a porlex and a drill

3. Grinders not advisable to make wide steps changes. They will get stuck.

Don't really need portafilter holder too, cause it's only like few seconds and you may want to move to distribute a little while the coffee falls.

Statics depends on a lot of things, more than the grinder

Hipsters were complaining that the event is not hip enough.
As public crowd were allowed to come in for free.

Rather spend the money for a bag of beans and drink at home.
Heard it's boring and nothing to see.

Maybe wait for the free entry

All grinders are on demand actually. Grinding on demand means you grind and use the grounds immediately. Old fashioned grinders with a doser allows you can grind first and keep the grinds in the doser until you want to make coffee. But they can also grind on demand. Just grind and flick the doser until you get enough coffee in your filter basket. I think you might be refering to "Single Dose" grinding.

Since you want to switch frequently between grind sizes, Vario/forte and in particular the HG one is recommended. HG one has practically zero retention. You can switch between grind sizes without having to run the grinder while changing grind settings so no beans is wasted. Vario's retention is quite limited too but some grinds is wasted. Both are very easy to change the grind settings. Traditional burr collar adjustment types (Compak k3, Mazzer, quamar) is slower and more wasteful to change.

If not consider 2 grinders. Feldgrind or lido for french press and preciso/vario for espresso. Should still be below 1k. I cant comment on the lido but Feldgrind's grind consistency for french press is very good.

Static depends on the beans and humidity. Sette might have some static problems from the design so must wait and see some reviews first.

I will highly recommend you to get a grinder solely for espresso. Stick to your porlex for press. Once you dialed in a bean, you wouldn't want to move the grind settings very much.

1)Baratza's grinders are all grind-on-demand. No dosers.
4)you only need to worry about static if you're using a hand grinder.

I also think it's a much better idea to get a separate grinder for your press.

for ppl like yourself wanting quick switch. have u seen the below thread?
http://www.home-barista.com/advice/...-switch-between-espresso-and-drip-t11810.html

from brief survey seem like 64mm conical and up little improvement in taste.

at 40mm conical US$499... hmm... look for other grinder. good things no cheap, cheap things not good theory LOL :D
http://www.baratza.com/grinder/sette-270w/

75mm flat burr - some don't like flat burr
https://www.espressocoffeeshop.com/...ct/product&path=78_246_272_277&product_id=669

58mm flatt burr
https://www.espressocoffeeshop.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=78_254&product_id=541

big flat has more retention issue.

http://www.home-barista.com/grinders/flat-vs-conical-burrs-t10816.html

switching grind settings for most grinders not easy esp from press to espresso. to get setting right for espresso need to mug around. once right small changes use to adjust for bean age.
