For sharing.

very enlightening on modern espresso styles and how it impacts on the looks of the pour.

I still use a bottomless to make sure the pour is not a total meltdown. but with WDT this is getting less necessary because consistency is usually spot on.

Nice a EG1 user, how much did you pay for it including tax and shipping?

Is swapping between the two burrs easy?

Are you still using your HG1? Or have you relegated it to the sidelines?
Your setup is damn hardcore man. Slayer + EG1! What beans are you drinking now?

About 5k. SSP burrs are about half price if purchased together so I thought why not.

Swapping burrs unfortunately not as easy as I hoped. Although burrs are magnetically mounted, still have to unscrew the burr carrier and shim the burr set. After that aligning the 2 burrs concentrically can be quite an involved process. Thought I would be able to switch easily depending on whether I want a filter or espresso at that moment but in reality it’s not practical as it’s a 15min job.

Yes still using the Hg-1 at work! It’s a keeper. No problems. Will probably outlast me.

Currently Drinking a Guatemalan from tiny roaster. After 2
Weeks of resting I find this to be very sweet! Cant really detect hazelnuts though.

Can consider the new E37SD. Ceado has very low retention. according to the wholelattelove test about .44g.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5ZnraVs_7M

I used a settle but now using a EG1.

Sette is fast and the grinds is fluffy but the particle distribution is so so for espresso and horrendous for filter. Too much fines choking up the paper filter.

I switch between filter, espresso and different beans often so i went with EG-1. single dose, easy to dial in and remember settings. Got it with their core burrs for espresso and filter and their low fines SSP burrs. Both are excellent but i preferred using the core burrs as there is more range setting for espresso.

Ceado is using a similar size flat burr. So if aligned properly i suppose it can produce a good particle distribution.

Don't think a good grinder is an overkill for the appartemento. A good grinder will complement it very well. more consistent flow rate if you weigh your doses and time your extraction.

Thank you so much for the detailed sharing. Yes, I too find that the particles distribution using Sette is somehow inconsistent and therefore I am looking around for an upgrade. I have been following WholeLatteLove for quite a while and I really like the Ceado grinder from the results they get. The only problem with Ceado is, I absolutely couldn’t find any retailer/distributor of Ceado here in Singapore, and though I can order internationally, my worry is when it comes down to warranty and/or servicing, I will face some trouble. Still thinking though...

Yup still roasting on my behmor.
I have a new roaster coming soon. The Power Roaster from kickstarter.
My behmor doesn't do filter roasts very well and I hope the Power Roaster will be up to the task for filter roasts.

Also just bought some new greens. Brazil monta alto and gelena abaya Ethiopia. Haven't started on them but the notes on them are :
Brazil monta alto
Almond, green Apple

Ethiopia gelena abaya
White grape , lime , floral

I am also waiting for the Power Roaster to arrive! Glad to know another local Power Roaster backer! But I do not have any roasting experience, so I’m a total newbie in roasting haha. Definitely interested to roast my own coffee.

Mind to share where do you usually get your greens from? Local or overseas? Thanks.

Haha although I've been roasting for a while now, I'm still not very good at it. Thing is with these home roasters, you've very limited controls over the roasting process. So my advice is, don't stress yourself too much over the variables and just have fun.

As for the greens, I got mine from a local roaster. He's a personal friend of mine. But he doesn't sell greens so I can't help you there.
Off the top of my head, greens you can get locally :
blendnew
cowpresso
tinyroaster

Overseas:
Sweet Maria's
Hasbean coffee

Coffeeinaplace brings in ceado. I think you can check if highlander is also bringing in the ceado.

Poison poison, can the EG-1 / E37Z Hero end the GAS?

Comparatively, I'm sure they perform similarly, EG-1 looks space-age, Ceado is more woody. Any issue so far from the EG-1 being out for a longer period now?

Edit: whelp, i just realised the Hero is a few K more expensive. damn...

The hero is crazily obscenely priced.. i am guessing more than 10K Sgd after tax and shipping to Singapore.

Would be better off getting the EG1 or trying your luck with the Monolith Max.

Had mine for a few weeks. So far no issues. Potential issue is the replacement required for the wiper fins. Eventually will wear out over time. LWW included some extra fins for replacement.

Can consider the e37sd, hero seems to have priced themselves out of competition.
