Any recommendations for good espressos in Singapore? I am really enjoying brewing filtered coffee at home over the past few months and wanted to get an idea of what good espressos taste like

Most of the "good espressos" in Singapore are extremely bright and sour.
Not my type. Even my expat mates hate them.

So i think explore and find what you like is better than reading reviews.

Did a search, this page explains what they do. Maybe this something like dalgona coffee, Italia style?

Looks like Italy's own "Founder's" cafe lol. More of a tourist trap. Actually, my best cafe experience was in a neighbourhood in Florence.

What's your preferred taste like? You can try Craftsmen at Clarke Quay.

Thanks to both who replied. For my pourovers and aeropress, I prefer a medium bodied drink compared to a tea-like feel that seems popular, medium bodied and juicy I would say. Fruit or floral notes wise not much of a preference as I think they are all unique and generally good. Ive also started liking beans that have a honey aftertaste.

Honey aftertaste in local cafes is a bit more challenging. Most are more to citrusy. I have limited experience but so far only Craftsmen is able to balance both full-bodied, citrusy and savoury. The taste doesnt come all at once but it slowly progresses after a few seconds in your palate.

Oh what I have is not amaretto. It’s Campari. Sibei bitter. Ha ha ha

my experience with coffee and alcohol. Hard to pull up some thing decent.

my recipe
1. single shot dark espresso (not double)
2. 2 shot baileys
3. 1/2 shot cointreau/grandmarnier
4. 1 shot kahlua
3. 100ml ice cold full cream milk and 50m evaporated cream
4. shake with crushed ice and serve with pina colada glasses
5 garnish with chocolate sauce or cocoa powder and mint lea or blood orange rind.

alternative to a fruity tropical. Now all you need is warm soft sand under your feet, balmy sea breeze, open air tiki bar, a lightly drunk young blonde giggling stupidly at your lame jokes but both clearly aware how the night will end and with not a care in the world. Can wait for next overseas trip........damn this virus.

Which brand did you get from giant?

Got the HG one.

I can't remember but i got the cheapest one that did not add margarine to the roast.

I was in the same shoes as you. Spent a few hours sweating to season the burrs on my HG One. definately there is a difference. you will find you need to grind finer. taste wise more balanced i feel. you don't get the old bitter and sour extremes on the same shot.

the burrs should be factory zero but its worth checking that our before you season.
