chikyblink just get a phraos, cheap, consistent grind result and it can last.

Also i have not been doing must experiment even since the espresso i am making is very consistent (as in it always taste the same to me which is non bitter and sour to me)

i guess i leave it that way.i get what i wanted from the lever, a espresso that i drink dun taste sour or bitter to me...

now i am a bit greedy. i love espresso and latte. so i make a espresso first spend 1 min to enjoy it then make 2nd shot for latte....

what about you?

The Pharos is certainly on my shortlist. Maybe I'll get 1 and play with mods in the future. Right now another grinder interests me more...and its making its way here as we speak.

i have stop spending money on coffee and aiming my next target which is a monitor audio silver 1 and center speaker and a sony W804 TV for movies and gaming.

SAme here. First drink is espresso but I prefer Americanos for a longer more relaxing after dinner drink.

Congrats! Get your coffee from as many places as u can and have a ball (and many sleepless nights)

Oriole and nylon is my regular supply as I live nearby. Wish I could try papa Palheta coffee more often though.

imo when just starting out, go to a cafe where they sell their own house blend, order an espresso and drink it. Then buy their house blend back and try to make an espresso that taste similar to what their cafe serves.
Keep doing this until you can consistently pull shots that taste close to theirs. After that then you can go try other beans.

I think its cuz the shape of the single dose basket is so irregular its hard to get the grounds packed evenly.
When you tamp, you're only tamping the top part of the basket, if your distribution isn't good in the 1st place, then basically its a sink shot.

That said, I've never used the single basket before and probably will never do. The above is just imo only.

whenever I go lam yeo buy beans no matter the day, since they don't print the roast date, I always ask when, they always say 2-3 days ago. Up to you to believe or not but so far no problems with their beans.
