unlikely, i've used both my baratza forte and mazzer mini with the same results. perhaps my machine was picky with the 18g VST and flow seemed too fast even with 15lbs tamp pressure on calibrated tamper after a few days..
fresher beans have absolutely no problem with flow and taste though so i can only conclude its freshness related..

After a few days, the beans oxidize, crema getting lesser and flow goes faster. :(
I will just grind it finer to counteract it and it works again. :)

Then when i open and pour a fresh bag in, it flows too slow cause i tuned it too fine earlier. :(
So i tune it coarser to rectify that and it works again. :)

Conclusion:
You can't use the same grind setting for the same beans all the time.

I'm using only 8 grams with the original basket, never even tamp hard. In fact can't even tamp as the inner sides of the single basket block the tamper.

No problem with flow and still have a decent crema.
Whether it's a supermarket brand like Boncafe, Lavazza or from the many local/JB roasters, all okay.

But after 2 weeks or so after opening, the beans are really oxidized to do much. No choice have to add more powder to squeeze the crema out..

Don't tell me your beans so oxidised.

Looks like an awesome machine! I think they are retailing at Tangs, Robinson's and Metro at $2088.

Not worth it, an expobar office and grinder better

how is the forte with grind retention? thinking of getting a forte for office espresso instead of using my small hand grinder. able to single dose effectively?

grind retention for the forte isn't significant, about 0.1g usually.
mine is the BG version though, not actually meant for espresso but seemed capable of grinding fine enough for espresso and i trust steel burrs better haha

0.1g is very good! tempting....

I trust steel burrs too. my gut feeling tells me ceramic burrs might produce too much fines. not sharp enough to chisel the bean.

Any new released burr grinder models to gai siao? :s11:

grinder new offerings are quite rare.

some relatively new grinders,
mythos one
compak k3 touch advance

feldwood came out recently. quite attractive but i wonder about the durability of a wooden body.

Hi all,

I have had a screw on my Lido 2 that has been broken for a long while. I continued using it but the slot of the handle has now widened so it keeps coming off the axle when I use the grinder.

Does anyone know where I can go to to remove the broken screw stuck in the axle? I have emailed orphanespresso numerous times over the last few months and they seldom reply.

have you managed to solve the issue? hard to know the exact problem unless you post pics. Can try googling for handyman who are able to repair small items like stripped screws etc. Not easy to fix though.

Eventually i guess you need the spare parts to replace the broken and would have to order the parts from OE.

What kind of burr grinder you looking for? For espresso or pour over?

I've been using a wmf coffee machine n a v60. Thinking alot of moving to cold brew recently. Thought it might be a refreshing change.
