I'm using a Smartt Weigh pocket scale which is quite small and thin. Bought from amazon for ~17USD. No timer though.
Not enough post counts to post link, just search for
Smart Weigh Digital Pro Pocket Scale with Back-Lit LCD Display, Silver at amazon

Looks good with backlight! I wonder why most manufacturers dunch include a timer, not rike its complex tech.

Yep its quite ok to use. No complaints about it after using it for about 2 months.
Yeah a timer would be a nice inclusion but at this price I'm not complaining :s13:

I have 2 scales.
http://www.amazon.com/American-Weig...UTF8&qid=1436542728&sr=8-2&keywords=aws+scale
http://www.dx.com/p/precision-digital-pocket-scale-300g-max-0-01g-resolution-15004#.VZ_mhPmqpBc

The AWS is my main espresso-duty scale. Its a little faster in response to the cheaper Precision Digital Pocket Scale. The 2 min auto-shutoff annoys me sometimes though.

The Precision Digital Pocket Scale is for roasting duty. And when travelling. It has a slightly longer shutoff timing at 3mins i think.

Hario scale has a timer but it's ex and not easy to get.
Check out brewista. It's coming up. With integrated timer and not so expensive.
Ultimate in guess. Would be acaia lunar. Small water proof and connects to the iPhone app to monitor flow rate with a graph. Great if u want to be very precise with pour over brew timings and flow rate.

have you managed to solve the issue? hard to know the exact problem unless you post pics. Can try googling for handyman who are able to repair small items like stripped screws etc. Not easy to fix though.

Eventually i guess you need the spare parts to replace the broken and would have to order the parts from OE.

OE is really slow in replying. They did send me a replacement axle after a few months though. I kinda messed up the inner burr while trying to unscrew it from the old axle and so may need to buy replacement burrs...But OE hasn't gotten back to me about it.

Anyway, it's now fixed, but the new screw suffers the same issue, i.e. it comes loose while grinding, which led to the first screw breaking. So now looking for loctite, which is a lot more difficult to find in Singapore than I expected.

Just to check, has anyone shipped machines from overseas, particularly from espressocoffeecompany? There is a machine I am keen on buying, and it's quite a lot cheaper there than buying local. I am worried about damages and reliability of the company, but the prices in Singapore, though slightly better than in the past, are still pretty prohibitive.

If it's located in EU.
You will get screwed when it's faulty, shipping back and from for repairs cost like $900+ for a 30KG from the cheapest Singpost which might get lost anytime.
In airfreight, they throw and stack under hundreds of kg of stuffs just like what happen to luggages.

That's not counting the repair fees and the GST incurred both sides during shipping unless you declare 0 value which mean zero insurance.

Take note weighing scales have to zero after some time.

Not sure if we can do it with coins, not sure of the weight

Moi current scale doesn't come with a calibrating function but occasionally will use a 100g weight to check.

I just bought a Macap grinder from them. No shipping damages. They are quite reliable. Item was shipped out the next day. They use TNT for delivery to Singapore.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Erwin! I'd be less worried if it were just a grinder I am getting, but that is still a vote of confidence :)

If you don't mind me asking, which Macap grinder did you get? I was eyeing the MC7 for a while; seems like a good price for a 75mm burr set, though the chute and funnel might be a pain to brush out (I single dose).

Unless it's for commercial usage, i think it makes more sense to buy something with a smaller tinted hopper, with smaller(about 45mm) conic burrs will do.
Backfire if you get a big one.

Functions like on demand, stepless and timers are very useful.
Functions like able to remove hopper easily, not so to me because still will have a lot of coffee trapped in the chamber.

You might wanna opt for the M7 if you single dose. It's a little more expensive, but tons easier to brush out grounds with clear access to the chute.
