Har gow - AUD 7.80

The Har Gow was decent with fresh, juicy prawns. However, the skin was too thick.

Siew Mai - AUD 7.80

The siew mai was huge and super fresh and yummy! This is a must-try!

Chee Cheong Fun with Char Siew - AUD7.80

I only eat Chee Cheong Fun with stuffing, and this dish was really great! The rice rolls were very soft and delicate, and the sauce balanced the savoury tones well with the hints of sweetness.

Chee Cheong Fun with Prawns - AUD 7.80

This was also very yummy with very juicy prawns! :s19:

Egg tarts - AUD 6.80

These egg tarts were really yummy! The custard was not overly sweet and the crust was quite flakey. Yum! :s19:

Stewed beef tendons - AUD 8.80.

The tendons were super flavourful and super soft and melt-in-your-mouth! Apparently, it is filled with collagen so it may be good for your skin!

Century egg and sliced pork congee - AUD 11

Although I am fearful of carbs, I would always order a bowl of congee whenever I am having dim sum. This bowl of congee was very flavourful and silky-smooth, and the chef was generous with the pork and century eggs.

Charcoal Salted-egg Custard Buns - AUD 6.80.

This was a unique take on the classic 流沙包, although the taste of the charcoal 包 was pretty much the same as a normal white 流沙包. The salted-egg custard was super gooey and flowed out immediately once you sank your teeth into them. Divine! :s19:

See how full the bun is of the custard? Yum!

All in all, I think Little China Girl was a place that one can visit without breaking the bank!

sasuga Fuji-san no ekisupāto desu.

yes i have been to both and still prefer other parts of Japan like Shirakawa-go and Shinhotaka. Kamikochi is one place i havent actually stepped inside but from pics i believe it might be the best place in japan in terms of view esp during autumn and winter (its off-limits to four wheels from second half of nov onwards until start of apr).

Which restaurant and not restaurants.

Redstar is the only restaurant that the four heavenly kings started in the 70s.

The other restaurants only has one king and one other restaurant has two kings.

Anyway, impressive answer for a 18 yo going into auntiehood...

Well, my parents "trained" me to be fluent whilst conversing with potential fathers and mothers in-laws, so I have to know some local history that only the older generation is acquainted with.

i wan go japan

Me too! :(

no momey so have to settle for a quick getaway in nearby SEA :(

South East Asia isn't too bad! I was thinking about visiting Bangkok, but my mother said it was too dangerous and I would probably end up being kidnapped and sold into, I quote, "prostitution".

that is two big tarts....

Erm not really. They were average in size, and only came in pairs, whereas most dim sum joints hawk their Egg Tarts in threes.

Let's see how deep your parents trained u.
Can identify this restaurant to impress your potential grandfather-in-law?

Really? Did you stay at the Onsen Ryokans in Hakone? I'm surprised you found it underwhelming.

I have travelled free and easy to rural towns in Eastern Europe where only literally one person speaks English (there was no google translate or lens then) and managed to get by by using hand signals and smiling :s13:

Personally, I'm not that crazy to go to the wilderness in a foreign country, so I'm all good.

That means central, south, or east Singapore :s13:

I think it used to be called Dragon's Gate, right? I tried the dim sum buffet with my pals back in JC; it wasn't really great. I think it was SGD13.99++ back then.

What is the most expensive thing you can order?

I used to enjoy travelling to visit several relatives in their homes each day. But nowadays, we just congregate at a particular house on that day and that is it. And there is no more festive spirit anymore.

Back in the day, Chinese New Year was special because it was one of the few times a year whereby your family would splurge on things you otherwise will not afford, like goodies, new clothes, or even soft drinks. But now, I can literally get any of these any time I want.

It is a very impressive institution for fine Japanese dining. But yes, please patronise them when you successfully sell your HDB; it will be worth it :)
most expensive is wagyu beef, but normally we order fish or 虾滑 and some meat

yup quite the bad news recently, of job seekers getting kidnapped.
but i think as a tourist, as long as not too adventurous and use a bit of common sense we are still ok.

I would be lying if I said I knew because I don't think I have been there before.

It seems to lead to a "unsafe" website :s13:

Fun fact: Women used to be banned from being sushi chefs because some believe they have colder hands which is not good for sushi making.

Why use this photo

Why not?

I see...

But now Bangkok is getting more expensive and commercialised; with the locals being more stressed and less carefree...

It feels different.

So where are you off to this time?

It closes in 2015.
It was THE restaurant during its heydays.

The chef hails from Shanghai and the 4 heavenly kings were his disciples.

Have you tried the food at the restaurants owned by the 4 heavenly kings? Maybe the standards have slipped but it is not that great.

see how, either vietnam or thailand :s13:

Are you going to cross dress in Thailand?

Def The hawker centre food, generous portions, great price

Yes, the price is really good!

The Mexican food was honestly average at best.
