You don’t use this to erase … you use this to strip a layer of the paper off to get rid of the mistake, but 搞不好 you make a hole in your paper.

My older sibling said this was the reason why people eventually tear up their paper because they will make holes in it anyway

Usually it's the half half type. One side is pencil eraser, the other is pen. More useful.
