GPU temps

So I've currently got 4 fans installed in my system. 2 intake fans in the front, one 120mm, the other 140mm; 1 120mm exhaust in the back, and 1 140mm exhaust on the top back.

Both 120mm fans are manually controlled by a three speed fan controller, while my 140mm fans are controlled by the mobo. Only 2 sysfan connectors on my mobo unfortunately.

The dumb thing is that even with 4 fans, my GPU idle temp averages 42-45C, while the highest it goes under load (max gfx Overwatch) is 80C. Apparently Overwatch gfx are more demanding than MGSV and Shadow of Mordor, but anyway -

Shouldn't my temps be lower even though I've 4 fans? I've read online and others seem to only have up to 70C while under load! wth??

Any suggestions on how I can further lower my GPU temp?

What gpu. Looks fine for idling and 80 is alright under full load.

Have you tried custom fan profiles with afterburner?

I know it's alright. But I've got 4 fans lol. I would've expected temps to be much lower.. Otherwise I just wasted spending 20 bucks on a fan that only lowers my temp by 2-5 degs.

As for custom fan profiles, no. By the looks of it, I may have to set a custom fan curve alr.

what GPU are you using?

Bro, $20 to reduce temps by 5 degrees is very worth it. Many of us go custom liquid cooling in order to achieve lower temps, spending hundreds on water loops.

there is nothing to worry about your gpu temp, i have a gtx970 and it idle around 45 degree, on load around 82.... pretty ok to me... nothing to worry about... use msi afterburner to adjust the fan speed if you are worried, the fan speed usually go to 50-60% only, go to 75-80% fan speed and you should see temperature coming down...

I think quite normal. if $20 can drop 5 degrees, I would have done it too, that's quite a lot, for $20.

Cool rainy weather will lower your temp more than an extra fan will I think. :s13:

I've also got 4 fans. 3 intakes, 1 out on my R5. My 970 idles at 40-42C, with the GPU fans at 0%. Part of the 0db tech, fans will only kick in when hit 60C I think. If want lower temps, you can set aggressive fan curve, can easily get the temps down to mid 30's. But maybe your GPU fans will wear out earlier also no point right...

Depend on your casing and layout and such, doesn't mean more fans = good airflow.

One 120 in, one 120 out can still give u good temp.

Honestly, 4 fans aren't a lot at all.

I've 3 dedicated intake case fans and 5 x exhaust case/radiator fans.

Idle temp for both my GTX970s is around 36 to 38c, load temp maxes out at 50c. Room ambient temp is 31 to 32c. Fan speed is controlled by coolant temp.

SG weather is hot year round so manage your expectation.

I'm quite sure it's also due to the placement of my rig.. Even with air con on the temp never changes. Fan blasting at 100% also won't go below 40C. From what I've tested so far, even an aggressive fan curve doesn't seem to do anything. But I guess bo bian. I just expected fans to lower my temps under load to 70C. Then again, the only thing that causes temps to hit 80 is Overwatch..

my SLI 780s x 2 used to run at 80-83% at full load. now swopped to 1080 single card, if I enable medium AA it hits 75-81C, if disble it hovers around 60-75C.

don't think its a big issue - these cards are rated much higher than 80C although thermal max is 85C.
