I canceled alot because I don’t like to call to ask for annual fee waivers. Alot of cards I applied but didn’t even activate. Some I used it once or twice for promotional vouchers. Now I only have two credit cards.

Calling is the troublesome. They can talk a lot. I don’t like to talk. I prefer “press 1 for fee waiver”.

Oh you are right.

That means ordinarily if one redeems at the SPc counter, the discount is gonna be lower than 26.68%. Because the 6% rebate is calculated based on not the $78 but the $78 after cash rebate (whatever that number is...).

Never redeem at the kiosks.
For maximum benefits, always redeem online.

Eg. If the payable amount is $100. Let’s say you have $100 rebate in the POSB card. You redeem $100. It is an immediate loss of 6%.

Since bills got to be paid anyway, the proper step is this.
Charge $100 to the POSB and earn the $6 rebate.
The total rebates inside POSB card will be $106.
Redeem $100 online to pay the $100 charged.
There is still balance of $6 rebate.

Yeah. People do it out of convenience. But I shall have it redeemed online from now on.

Oh. I was an expert on Flashpay cards too. Back then, flashpay cards were able to generate a tiny token rebate of $60/month. Many level of expert of these then.
Ya and $2 at toastbox daily breakfast. Salted eggyolk bread with egg and kopi O. :s22:
What is the promotion now?

Take $100 gross.
1) Apply whatever site discount.
2) Apply whatever voucher, if applicable.
3) Finally, apply credit card to the final amount.

1) & 2) may interchange.
$100 - $6 Voucher - 20% Cabbie card - $1 from linkpoints + 2% medisave

Must see if Caltex has the same system as Esso.

Gross $100
-$6
-$18.80
-$1
-$1.48 ($2 on nett)
=$27.28
=27.28%

Or:
Gross $100
-$6
-$20
-$1
-$4
=$31
=31%

Don’t say I say. But losses are cumulative. A year of posb rebate redemption at kiosk could lead to some $140 in annual losses if the average petrol per month is $200 nett.

On the other hand, if the original rebate in the POSB card is little to start with (say only $10 inside), then the annual losses become only $14. Maybe convenience is more worthwhile then.

I like to be safe, not sorry.
But seriously, I am not attracted to anything in JB, though my friends keep asking me to visit.
No keen in any motor parts, food, groceries, massage, etc.

I have a friend who avoided JB for almost 20 years because of an incident, but a few years ago he was persuaded to break the barrier and since then he has made a couple of long road trips with us and even drive into JB on his own. What he enjoys most is the food.

Friends coerce me to go by parking the car at Woodlands area and taking a train there.
Last meal in JB was that delicious bee hoon long time back. Never tasted it again.:o
