I'm clearing my GPMC balance, to maximise the rewards points i can get. Just made a USD1,000 payment. Google says current exchange rate is 1.39, which means at NIL markup, this shoild cost me SGD1,390. GPMC charge me SGD1,415.66. So means their markup for forex is 1.85%. Not cheap....

Thank you for the update.

UOB just hammered the final nail in the coffin for GPMC. From 16 Mar 2020 onwards, topups for GrabPay will no longer earn any rebates. Cheers everyone, this was nice while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end.

grab only chut this stunt so that they can apply for their banking license. 31 dec last year they submitted their figures to government. that's why this year they cut everything. you guys should cancel your card asap so that they don't take you for granted.

Actually the revised tnc just means tat from 16 Mar onwards, grab mobile wallet top ups dun qualify for the extra 5% cash rebate?

How abt the 'base' 5% rebate for min 2k spending for your spending quarter? Grab top ups can still qualify for tat base 5% rebate right?

So basically if you spend 2k in grab top ups for 3 months, you will only get 5% (base) rebate from 16 Mar onwards instead of 10% (base 5 + extra 5) currently?

Haha no need so extreme la. Grab has been good to us for the past year or so. They make the decision to stopping being good to us, is prefectly reasonable. I will also make the perfectly reasonable choice to move to another card that will treat me better.

For what's it's worth, they did provide a full 1 month notice period for us to react. If they wanted to, they could have made the changes unilaterally, suddenly, and without any announcements. The way they did in 2018. That was a d ick move. At least they are gentlemen this time, and for that i salute them, and the savings and rewards they gave me over the past year.

Guess the MCC will be revised or else how they separate top up against normal transaction

Agree.

I will probably use less of GPMC after Mar. There is still some difference compared to bank's credit cards. Eg how do we raise credit card disputes ?

I also had an issue with an online purchase recently. When I make online purchase at Watsons or NTUC using other cards, it is pre-authorised during order and charged after delivery. But for Grabpy mastercard it is charged at the point of order. There was some cancellation of items due to out of stock. I am still liaising with the merchant for refund to my Grabpay Mastercard. This would not have happened if I had use bank issued credit cards.

Think Grabpay Mastercard don't have pre-authorisation function. Just look at how they charge 10 cents for simplygo.

UOB has updated their website.

Scroll all the way to the bottom till you see Terms and Conditions then pull down to see.

Wef 16 Mar 2020, please be informed that selected transactions such as Grab mobile wallet top-ups, wire transfers, payments to Non-Financial Institutions (such as crypto-currencies etc), quasi-cash and more will be excluded from the awarding of cash rebate on the UOB One Card and bonus interest on the UOB One Account. For clarity, all other Grab transactions will continue to be eligible for the awarding of cash rebate on the UOB One Card. Yes. GPMC generally sucks with refunds. I have 3 refunds so far. First one, grab gave me back my money immediately after merchant refund me. 2nd one, Grab still did not give my money back 30 days from merchant confirming that they already refunded me, so i raised a ticket with grab. Grab gave me back the money about a week after the ticket is raised. 3rd one, merchant refunded me on 16jan. Grab still never give me back. I will raise ticket 16th feb.

they just wanted to pad their numbers so that they can get the banking license. think of it as public service, help mas to see through grab financial's bs. show them that people only use grab for the carrot and without carrot they have no business model at all.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess its 0% rebate after 16 Mar now ... not even 5% :(
