Grab rewards adjustment is on 2-Mar, not 1-Mar. So we have one day window to whack SGD2000 from UOB into GrabPay on 1-Mar; and try to spend as much as possible on same day to maximize Grab rewards. Haha... My UOB One cars cycle is Jan-Mar; so this will be for me :)

Top up GrabPay wallet with UOB one card still get Grab reward? how come I did not get any GrabPay Point when top up this Morning.

No grab reward for topup. Get grab reward when spending from grab.

Based on the TnC in pdf for uob one card topup grab still not yet excluded from quarterly rebate/uob one account bonus interest (unless MCC change), no more additional 5% rebate though.

Based on the TnC on uob website uob one card topup grab excluded from quarterly rebate/uob one account bonus interest and no more additional 5% rebate.

The TnC in pdf should hold when there is any inconsistency, so hope they honor that.

Btw topup posted by 15 Mar count under current tnc, so top up before that

Actually after 1 Mar the rewards will be adjusted downwards already. So for those whose UOB ONE statement ends after 1 March and before 15 March would have no choice but to still top up and use at a lousy rewarding rate.

Statement usually close to end of month, mine is 25th so UOB give you chance to top up and use.

their website already printed black and white that grab topup will be excluded from 16 March onwards... so I don't think still need to check their pdf version (maybe they haven't update).

anyway to be safe will just top up before 16 March (yes, make sure it's posted by 15 March) for the last time... to hit min. spend.

There is no inconsistency, tnc on UOB website also stated 16Mar as effective date that nerf all rebates (incl 3.33/5%) and no more counted towards cc minimum spend

This is not what is in the pdf tnc.

From the pdf tnc under 4.1:

Grab transactions with description “GRAB*” under Grab Taxi Holdings Pte Ltd and its affiliated companies, but shall exclude any Grab mobile wallet top-up transactions (exclusion is effective from 16 March 2020) - Additional Rebate 5%

From the website:

Wef 16 Mar 2020, please be informed that selected transactions such as Grab mobile wallet top-ups, wire transfers, payments to Non-Financial Institutions (such as crypto-currencies etc), quasi-cash and more will be excluded from the awarding of cash rebate on the UOB One Card and bonus interest on the UOB One Account.

--

reading it together, it suggests to me that:
- topping up grabpay will no longer award cash rebate nor count towards bonus interest for UOB One
- there will also no longer be additional cash rebate of 5% (originally UOB X Grab gives 5% + 5%)

so, from 10% to 0% effectively. correct me if i'm wrong.

Only grab top up is 10% to 0%. If you spend grab other services, and charge to card directly, should be same as before.

There is only one official tnc.

Understood, no more additional rebate 5%.

I honestly think that it's game over for UOB x GrabWallet, but I think UOB really should be clearer on their wording.

The inconsistency pointed out is about the quarterly cash rebates: "For details, visit uob.com.sg/onetncs" and the wording inside the pdf implies that it is the main document, and the website is just a summary.

5. Exclusions
"The following Card Transactions (collectively referred to as the “Exclusions”) do not qualify to earn any Quarterly Cash Rebates or Base Cash Rebates.
a-e) [the usual exclusions here]
f) [bunch of MCCs here]
g) [specific exclusions here]
h) any other transactions as may be prescribed by the Bank from time to time.

Grab isn't specifically mentioned here, nor is its MCC 7399(?). They added a lot of "wef 16 Mar 2020", so someone definitely went thru this list. Maybe on 16 March, the MCC of GrabPay might change to one of the excluded ones. UOB can probably also claim that (h) together with the website means that it's excluded, but it isn't 100% clear.

well, we'll wait till after 16 March then, to confirm. but i'm not taking my chances and end up affecting even the bonus interest for my One account.

so i'm just giving up on Grabpay top-up completely to be on the safe side.

my prudential monthly premium is the main bugbear that is affected by the new tnc. does not count anymore towards cashback, so for next two months (cos my cycle is Feb - Apr) I've to clock in $500 more spend than usual to meet the min. spend for the tier I've clocked for Feb. figured for March can still top up grabpay, but for April - have to spend like crazy on retail. silly problem.

I had same problems before and i know how this “silly problem” feels. I managed to realise that ultimately if u buy what u don’t really need, u are actually wasting even much more money

This is the one disadvantage (advantage for the bank) of UOB One that finally caught up with us - being a quarterly system rather the monthly minimum as for most (all?) other credit cards.

yup! that's one big disadvantage of quarterly rebate instead of monthly, indeed.

but fret not. when push comes to shove, at most i'll use the card to buy some vouchers... or top up my Starbucks card. then slowly use them over the next year or two. yes I agree ultimately we should not spend just for the sake of spending.

after this cycle is over i'll just revert to spending the min. $500 per month to keep the UOB One bonus interest.

Thanks, I almost forgot about the $500 minimum needed for UOB One bonus interest...! Been doing $2000 for so long already!
