Yes, exactly the situation u mentioned. The incident happened in early Feb, more than 14 days has lapsed, my follow up email to guardian isn’t replied. I wrote to Grab, it asked me to write to guardian for a refund. Bounced me back and forth...for that $9..

I had similar experience as you but with Giant online. Does Guardian have a hotline to call ? I emailed to Giant but no reply after a few days so called their hotline. They said it was refunded on 9 Feb (day of delivery). I waited 1 week than call Grab hotline and told them Giant verbally told me they refunded on 9 Feb. They say must wait 10 days. I ask for tix number. On 24 Feb I called and quoted the tix number. They put up request for chargeback. The amount was refunded to me on 26 Feb.

Don't bother to email them. Call the hotline and make sure you take down the tix number. Grabpay Card hotline number is 6655 0005 weekdays 10am to 9pm.

Not sure if I get the terms correct but you can try this:

Tell Grab that the final amount charged by merchant was lower than the amount withheld. Given that it has been more than 14 days, shouldn't you get back the difference instead of having the difference being withheld indefinitely? It is not fair to you as GPMC is a debit card.

I have cases where merchant was very sure that refund was already made but I never received it. The first time it happened, I had an immedidate refund. But the initial $1 withholding fee and subsequent refunds never came and that was when I questioned why they took more than 14 days. Grab will usually reply they will check backend (or with Mastercard?) and will claim it takes up to one month for refund to take place. I usually see the refund within the next couple of days after asking Grab for the status.

GPMC is not automated, have to chase for those "refunds".

This is pretty much it. GPMC refunds work like only 30% of the time. When it works properly, the refund will be instantaneous; it will refund the moment the merchant releases the funds. However, the majority of the time, something screws up and the refund doesn't clear. And it doesn't help that Grab CS reflexively try to get you to screw off and stop bothering them.

To get your refund, you have to do the following steps:
1. Call the merchant first. Get them to tell you on what date they processed the refund. If it's a pre-authorisation charge, the refund will be the same date as the charge.
2. Wait 14 days from the refund date.
3. Call Grab. Circumvent all their attempts to blame you or the merchant, by telling them that merchant confirmed the refund more than 14 days ago. Give them the date merchant gave you the refund.
4. Then 2 to 5 working days, and the refund will be processed.

If you don't do the above, you will never get your money back. Grab will eat the money.

It is not exactly GrabPay MasterCard does not work. It works just like any other debit card.

If you have dealt with debit card refund or debit card charge change, it is nightmare.

Any idea when we can add GPMC to Apple Pay wallet? I know it works for Samsung Pay only. Revolut is already ahead of its game

Thank you everyone for your advice. Will call guardian Hotline for the Exact date of refund/ref number (if any), and then follow up with grab.

To be honest, except for the first time when the refund did not take place immediately, I had never called the merchant. I dealt with Grab directly and had simply asked 14 days had passed, why fund had still not credited back to me.

True to some extent but I think traditional banks are able to manage the cases well.

Given that there is not much incentives to topup GPMC now, probably better to stick with cc instead.

Lol. Why not u ask Grab?

Yeah I will but thought there could be insider information over here

actually i tink the fees that banks/ fin tech have to pay apple to use apply pay is quite high, which is why most choose not to support.

Probably, and in fact, I haven’t started to use my GPMC (physical card) yet. I have so many other cards to use on Apple Pay to chalk up points and, for Grab, I use the QR, so, unless Apple Pay supports GPMC...

SC spree still has 2% for grabpay topups, as of 16 feb last month. :s12:

or cancel amex tcb and reapply after 6 months for 3% bonus.

I called up SCB to enquire but was told SCB Spree no longer has rebate for all wallets including Grab. Not sure if CSO gave the correct info.

Can anyone else confirm?
