Not when they markup the price by 20 to 30%
1f602.png

Wonder if there is a list of bbt store that don’t mark up retail price in GrabFood

very worthed it even with 20-30% menu price markup, as long one is nearby restaurants pickup

Eg.
Popular chain Roast Duck Rice $5.30
Walk-in $4
Markup $1.30 / 32.5%
Grab Selfpickup $5.30 - 25% = $3.975
Using voucher = $1.50 (750pts / $5 value) + $0.30 = $1.80
Actual redemption rate = 750pts for $3.70 = 202pts/$1

Not to mention its also more worthed while than 30-50% rebate in redeeming CapitaStar i.e 30%rebate/1750pts = 350pts/$1, 40%rebate/1500pts = 300pts/$1, 50%rebate/1250pts = 250pts/$1

Another illustration:
ZiChar Horfun $5.60
Walk-in $4
Markup $1.60 / 40%
Grab Selfpickup $5.60 - 25% = $4.20
Using voucher = $1.50 (750pts / $5 value) + $0.60 = $2.10
Actual redemption rate = 750pts for $3.40 = 220pts/$1

sorry, i dont fully understand the workings as i dont use Grab voucher

why is it 750pts for $3.70 ?

shldnt the savings comparison/redemption rate be with the Walk-in price of $4? (instead of Grab price of $5.30)

Devilsire gave almost every detail and comparison indeed. (y)(y)

750pts for $3.70 is considering the ‘forgoing’ of the 25% pickup incentive.

He also states the walk in against redemption rate

Popular chain Roast Duck Rice
Walk-in $4
Using voucher + $0.30 = $1.80

ZiChar Horfun
Walk-in $4
Using voucher + $0.60 = $2.10

What he means is for 750 pts you get about $3.70 worth..

Ya actual price is $4 -$0.30 paid extra with grab voucher = $3.70

Actually u can get another 30% when u use SP apps to convert CapitaStar to eCapitalvouchers 3 times a month.. not sure next month still available or not..
Both ways i find it quite worth while..

There is an easier way to think about it. I remember that there was an article Stating that the markup of food price is between 15 to 61%

If you put it at the max/worse valuation, the food on grab is about 160% of the original price.

With the 5sgd Voucher, there is a 70% discount. So you are pay 30% of the overpriced food (160%), which is 48% (0.3 X 160).

For the worse priced food on grab app, you are paying only 48% of the food original price (in grab point). That's if the food you order is near to 5sgd (voucher value) and you use pick-up option because delivery isn't worth it for 5sgd voucher

I use it at some places around Tanjong Pagar for the 25% off self pick up. There doesn't seem to be any difference between Grab prices and the normal prices. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf have the same price for self pickup via Grab as they do for walk in.

Grab app removed the feature to upload QR code, only can scan now.

Grab Paynow QR is buggy. I scanned a dash top up generated paynow QR code (which contained my unique dash account reference) and paid $1 via grabpay wallet but until now still not received yet.

My suggestion is don’t try it for non merchants/E-wallets. If it’s not meant to work, they should not allow transaction to go through in the first place.

Grab now offers third party in-store and online vouchers that can be used at physical shops and websites/apps which offer grabpay. This is in addition to the current grabfood, Mart and ride vouchers. Patiently waiting for these new vouchers to go on flash sale as there are many more choices to use them on 😆

Too bad cannot stack vouchers and offset using points 😈

Redeemed 6 x $5 grabfood vouchers at 750 points each. As some posters shared, it is still worthwhile for some self collect orders especially those around $5 even without 25% self collect discount and with markup. Useful for my lunch time dabao. :)

I read the terms it says ... "Applicable for baseket and delivery fee only" ... not sure what is "basket"
