Granite is expensive so is marble. Tia gong granite will not crack. Marble will still crack

Marble is more expensive and has more varieties to choose from but granite is tougher

Lol... Ever wonder why most high class hotel use only marble and not granite?

You sure that is marble lobby? Granite is extremely durable, hard like rock, will never see concrete cracked lines but very very expensive. Aunt commented both granite and marble is about the same price in the market psf. Price difference for normal and granite tiles can be as good as 5-figures difference taking residential floor size into consideration. Granite can last many lifetimes, don't need to change tiles. Some shopping malls using granite tiles. Marble can still see cracked concrete lines same for normal or homogeneous flooring, durability not as good.

One day, you go try drop a heavy stone, slam it hard a few times see the hotel flooring got crack or not. If it doesn't crack, I don't think it is made of marble flooring. Normal or homogeneous tiles sure crack, very common issue, can see concrete lines in residential houses, way cheaper, at least or more than half price psf difference. Tell me I am not wrong?

Granite has different quality. They do not look as elegant as marble generally. Only the black type is non permeable to water, but most people will not want a living room with black colour floor. The light coloured one has lower density and more impurities embedded. After a few years. When the outer protective layer is worn out. It will leak sand out daily. It happened to me before so I know. Then the workers have a hard time hacking the hard low quality granite off, after which they installed porcelain tiles.

My relatives granite tiles 40++, coming 50 years old alr, still hard like rock and look new to me without polishing or anything done, easier to manage without worrying of wear and tear. Granite flooring is a better consideration for floor tiles. Not sure regarding porcelain tiles. Are they fragile?

Installation price around 100$ pm², this is not inclusive of marble and floor screed, just marble adhesive and installation of granite.

I think certain countries have higher quality granite for tiling. Some countries may have fancy, rare colours, durability I am not sure. Black ones are called black galaxy, the lesser crystals ones are even harder.

Porcelain tiles are almost 100% non permeable to water, it is one grade higher than homogeneous tiles.
