mind sharing where u gt the color schemes?

err just to clarify first. they are just ideas or pictures of how others painted their gundams. only a few is I created by using those line-art then adding simple colours

any idea why the atomisation for tamiya paints abit bad?

i used the same settings as for my primer but there is no issue with the airbrushing the primer.

when airbrushing the paint, instead of having very fine droplets on the target piece, I get bigger spots, 0.5mm to 1mm size. then alot of times the paint dont stick on the target piece. abit like spraying water on greasy surface.

Lets decode it step by step:

Spots of paint : 1) Pressure too high, spraying too far away resulting in paint drying mid-air, or paint too thin.
2) Paint too thick, splatters on rather than sprayed on
3) Faulty needle and/or nozzle, unsmooth spray pattern causing splatters too
4) Crown of Nozzle Guard clogging with paint, causes splatters

Like Spraying water on Greasy surface: 1) Pressure too high, pushing the paint away from your spraying spot
2) Spraying too near, causing paint to fill the spot and then spread out
3) Paint too thin, like water dont adhere

Does any fit the bill?? For me i think you have a case of super diluted paint and too high pressure, The effect of paint drying in mid air more evident as it becomes powdery and sticky, primer itself has powdery additives so the effect is not clear because it is percieved that you should have that powdery effect, but not for gloss paints.
The paint should be in a consistency of milk or wine if you prefer. Spraying is between 15 to 25 psi at a distance of around foot, adjust accordingly by pull back distance(dual action) or rear stopper(single action/some dual action), if you do decant your paints from spray cans, do dilute it abit with lacquer thinner(preferably with abit of retarder) to dilute the paint for easier shooting through the airbrush. Of course everything is YMMV so do test it out on some plastic spoons that you can get in any convenience shop.

Tamiya paints are mostly acrylic or enamel must use either isopropyl alchohol/X20A thinner for former or X20 thinner for latter to thin it, if use lacquer thinner for either will buang one

can try recast if u have another similar part

haven't seen this locally....what's it for?

recast 1 part abit not very efficient

Make the GN-X battle damaged...=D

I might buy another kit to replace the missing one then use the new kit as diorama. I can't do complex ones, only simple
ones like limbs kenna sliced off by 00 raiser etc

snail mail for a replacement part lo.......:vijayadmin::vijayadmin::vijayadmin:

btw a not well known paint series by tamiya, the polycarbonate series used mainly for RC cars

just want to ask u guys something

are tamiya paints blended differently?
I tried to blend a tone of pink according to the colour guide for tieren taozi in gundam00 (pink with 10%red and cobalt blue)

since tamiya didn't have cobalt blue I used flat blue

but the resulting colour is nothing like pink. its more like navy grey with touch of blue

i mean, the colours shldnt be that far off? a few shades or tones off I can accept but totally diff colour? does tamiya paint stick well on mr color primer?

different pigment used maybe?...anyway the colors u are looking for(cobalt blue) can be found in mr color, since they're using their color guide
cobalt blue is a lighter shade(it's the "gundam blue")
the tamiya flat blue is of a darker tone

yea tamiya paint works fine on mr color primer, acrylic over lacquer
tested it before

a standard case of paint desaturation........... the pink desaturates into grey after the blue is added, probably either of them has a high content of white and therefore desaturates the whole colour to grey. Its very hard to deal with red as it desaturates more quickly than other primary colours..... to mix pink and blue try using blue and red, then after that then lighten it with a touch of white.
