Normally I topcoat section by section, but because I panel line and use water decals.
I topcoat the parts that needs to be panel line or decal with gloss topcoat first.
After application then I topcoat again section by section.

matt area -> flat top coat,
metallic paint -> Gloss topcoat
Gloss area -> gloss topcoat

Then I assemble after that.

it's how you want that part to look like. matte for a flatter look and gloss for shiny/metallic look.

and get the appropriate topcoat depending on whether you painted your kits with acrylic or lacquer paints

Did u check vivocity toys r us? According to brochures, they have same day as japan release. i going down there on 26th to buy rg justice. Hope it isnt a wasted trip...

Still trying to figure out how to use the decals. Read up on it. Seems like you have to rub really hard...

tat is for dry transfer.
there is another type known as waterslide (wet) decals

Theres no water slide decals for rg freedom. Water slide apply like tatoo... Those temporary ones

The water slides for rg freedom i was referring to was the bandai ones. Water slide versions of the dry transfers. I know rg rx 78 has, but apparently freedom doesn't. samuel decals are limted

Isnt water slide like tatoo? Cut out decal, wet it, place the decal, take out the transparent sheet, adjust with a cotton bud. Correct?

my bad, its not transparent, its a blue sheet(thanks to sliver).

usually i take out e opaque blue base sheet, leave e 'transparent' sheet on e parts. before tat i gloss coat e surface. marker setter n softer i use for waterslide decal, then end off w a flat coat.

marker setter and softer is for? sticking and softening the decals?

The setter is for preparing the area you want to put the water decal, makes it easier to adjust when you slide it out. Softer is to 'melt' the decal so it can set nicely onto the part (for example into panel lines or curved surface).
Setter alone has already some 'melting' properties so some people will just use setter on flat surfaces and only use softer when its a really curve surface. Note that best to do it on gloss surface, thus topcoating gloss before application.

That's what i understand from using these 2. Got some advice on those at HAW few months back.
