tamiya spraycans are usually lacquer based paint, whereas for panel wash u are using enamel paint. enemel thinner will not affect lacquer paint.

if ur paint is gloss, then u dun need to gloss coat it again. else it is better to gloss coat so that the enamal wash flows better along the panel lines and is easier to clean off with enamal thinner

Thks evilerniex once again! Got it!

same.. 30% off RRP.

but of coz for akihabara there are many other small shops selling model kits. some of these shops may be clearing certain kits for a huge discount. otherwise, Yodobashi Camera generally have the cheapest kits

if i had the time i prefer to work with MG.. RG may be detailed but the parts are too small and tend to bend easier if u do not handle there with extra care

actually i prefer HG :s13:
lesser parts, faster to do. but masking is more jialat.

RG looks really good.. but painting it is a nightmare. too many small parts!
decals is another nightmare, whether u using the default stickers or buy waterslide decals. so many small small decals, see until eyes blur :p

yup totally agree. i used default stickers then some dont stick well. :o

had to go daiso buy super glue and use toothpick to roll against the surface to make it stick.

haven't tried painting yet, probably want to do a few more before i step into that.

I'm actually thinking of an MG to do. maybe the F91. haha.

Got a MG Strike Rouge Ootori for Christmas. How long do you guys estimate the build time to be? Without decals. I'm probably going to buy water slide from samueldecals.

So far only built 2 RG

30% off refers to which currency ?
eg a rg at 2500yen (online quoted price) is sold about 40%+ higher in sg due to shipping etc, which is appx S$38. (may be wrong about the pricing, could be slightly higher)

so should it be 30% off sgd retail pricing or 30% off japan quoted price ?

not sure about this but just want to make sure. cos rmb is a lot more cheaper to get in japan.

im using a shelf also, but i must have u know that shelves collect dust easily. maybe u can invest on a cheap display cabinet or smth? look up ikea's deltolf series for display cabinet.

30% off the japan price (the number printed on the side of the box above the barcode)

e.g. a 2500yen RG will cost 1890yen at Yodobashi: 2500 x 0.7 (30% off) x 1.08 (8% tax)

my other half might have an issue is that in our new house... haha. so i have to design something that blends into the "surrounding".

yoz, i think you say 40+% higher than SG prices based on the assumption that you order only ONE rg from nihon.

however, if you order more than one rg, definitely can bring down the shipping cost of each item. based on my experience, ordering 5-6 RGs from nihon (with shipping costs considered) is as good as going to HAG/HAW year-end sales ;)
