Been awhile since I last build. Got the itch to start building kits again after I saw the recently release gold plated Phenex Gundam.

Have not built the Narrative one but I did have a painted HGUC Phenex [from GFT] done:

Anyway, was at HAW and I picked up what I thought was the full-plated Tryon 3 kit.

I didn't do my research, so this was the campaign version and only some parts were plated, the rest were of a special pearl/gloss finish. So not my best build since I wanted to preserve the special plastic look.

I actually like the Tryon 3, even though at first I wasn't into the SRW aspect.

The backpack however blocks the shoulder articulation and the sword is heavy and the kit barely holds it in place. Fun though as a break form regular UC content.

Hi may I know how you paint your Phenex? It's really well done.

If really want to break down to specifics, there are 4 types

1st type is Water-based Acrylic, mainly brands like Citadel and Vallejo. Tends to suit handpainting, can also be airbrushed. You can use water to dilute or better yet, use their thinner.

2nd type is Alcohol-based Acrylic, Aqueous Hobby Color and Tamiya Acrylic belong to this category. They are better thinned with alcohol than water. They perform more like lacquer than water based acrylics. However I have good experience handpainting with Aqueous Hobby Color (see examples in works above), painting in a wet palette. Dilute with Tamiya X20A.

3rd type is Enamel. They are kind of like oil paints, and they take longer to dry and fully cure. Very smelly, wear mask when painting. Useful for panel lining and for reverse washes like you see on most people who paint their Sinanju/Sinanju Stein. In Singapore you will mainly find Tamiya Enamel (small cuboid looking bottle), though got other brands like Testors around. Dilute with Tamiya X20.

4th type is Lacquer. Very quick drying, not quite good for brush painting but excellent for airbrushing. Smelliest so you better wear a mask when painting. Dominant type of paint for most Gundam painters and modellers. Tamiya (those specifically labelled lacquer), Mr Hobby (not Aqueous Hobby), Gaianotes, E7 and SMS paints are examples. Lacquer thinners include Mr Hobby Levelling thinner, Tamiya Lacquer thinner, Gaianotes thinner, E7 thinner.

Hi all, so recently I accidentally broke the joints of the shoulder,

Is there any place that sells replacement parts?

I've tried using Tamiya ABS cement, but its not strong enough.

Tried poking a needle through, but the joints are too small.

HELP!

haha!

its a MG destiny extreme burst mode.

Ah, how much are you looking for?

For just a small shoulder joint? Maybe you can message me?

I've actually solved the problem alr, drilled a bigger hole, stick some round tube that I got from my HG freedom in, miraculously it fits, nicely in the arm also, woo, it's done, haha!

can is can, but you need to paint many thin layers or one thick layer.

good luck making the parts consistent.

White is one of the most difficult colors for beginners to paint if the base is not white.
