Thanks for the advise! i noticed that use my thumb to rub on the frosting surface will help 'rub off' those frost salt...

However, I planned to use the tamiya 'Pearl White' to spray on my new gundam's amor plate (which looks very nice white color)

In such case, spraying top coat will definitely spoilt the color, what should I do?

eh... have u seen smooth 'thin glass' spoilting any color of anything before

i did not mod anything, its the painting method that makes the difference. i dunno how to make it cute...... my method of painting is follow aircrafts one. with gray base,.everything looks duller and therefore gives a stricter look

Just ordered my first compressor and airbrush from keithab.

bought respirator and paint today. Anything to look out for/do when starting up the compressor? eg.adjust PSI?

i bought the single piston compressor with air tank btw.

have you studied about paint types? thinners and solvents? characteristics of different type of paints?

have you set aside $$ for expendables like kitchen towels, industrial thinners for cleaning, toothpicks as stirrer, paint trays and many many more...........

have you make any plans to make/buy a spray booth?

have you plan for a space that you can airbrush in?

have you read up on the internal workings of your airbrush? how to use it properly? how to maintain it properly?

When your airbrush come, you will need to plan your SOP for using of your ab, especially when you have young kids, old people or less than tolerant adults who goes crazy just by smelling a hint of paints. Find your most comfortable [paint consistency against psi against trigger] position. And finally your spray techniques.......

Its seems overwhelming but its the learning process.....

I have posted guides here, its in chinese and if you can read you can consider reading up Vol. 1, its all about modelling tools. Vol.2 is actual building and 3 and 4 are modding and adv. modding.

I think i remember somewhere is ard $50-60. I didnt go into detail because it none transformable. Not interested.

I waiting for the full transformable version.

haha, transformerable would make it like macross frontier.

Yup read up on paint types, thinners and all. Done airbrushing about 5 yrs ago, just that this time its double action ab and with compressor. All the misc stuff like blue tack, masking tape, dropper and mixing jars all ready.

will watch out for abs plastic parts in case lacquer based stuff damage it.

spraybooth maybe not so soon. I always spray when no one else is at home so i guess its ok

space to airbrush will be living room.

I bought airbrush cleaner to use as well.

BTW how come I need industrial thinner?

If you are planning to spray lacquer, you can clean your airbrush with your SG$16.90 for 400ml hobby thinner.... or you can clean it with SG$6 for 1.5l industrial thinner. There are other more powerful solvents for the paints so that it can flush the paint in your airbrush out, like Windex for acrylic paints.

psi can adjust after it charged up

If you are planning to spray lacquer, you can clean your airbrush with your SG$16.90 for 400ml hobby thinner.... or you can clean it with SG$6 for 1.5l industrial thinner. There are other more powerful solvents for the paints so that it can flush the paint in your airbrush out, like Windex for acrylic paints.

Hi, I got my ab and comp today. Can't do any spraying cos its raining.

How do you adjust the PSI from the comp?

do you turn the black knob? I turned it on until the meter hits 3bar, then I sprayed and the pressure output is still the same, but can see from the meter that the PSI or bar is falling when I spray with the AB. Quite confusing

you hve to pull the knob up then turn....

3 bars.... you kidding me?? thats about 43.5 psi
