u can get cheap airbrush for less than $50 and compressor for about $100. however, if u are into this hobby long term, u may want to invest in something better.

other things to consider will be whether u have a well ventilated place to do airbrush coz the fumes will be everywhere. u may want to get a spray booth with ventilation fan to suck out the fumes.

if u are interested, we have a scale modelling club in bishan CC that operates every sunday afternoon. we provide compressor and airbrush there. u can drop by to take a look. refer to facebook link in my sig for more details

The main issue stopping me from starting to get a spray booth and start airbrushing my kits is the smell. Even with a spray booth, will the fumes from airbrushing linger some time after airbrushing?

for lacquer paint there will still be slight smell. Not sure about acrylic paint.

tt is y I only do airbrushing at the club :p
if I have my own house, I will probably partition a small room just for doing gunplay, so that the dust and fumes dun go into other part of the house

we have the same spray booth in our club, but the members all lazy to use it. all immune to fumes already :D

aqueous acrylic paint have almost no smell. and since u can dilute with water, u dun need thinner which contributes to most of the smell and fumes.

Acrylics should not be as gao lat as lacquers. But lacquers are stronger and has more colour options.

Personally, Gaia paint has a strong leftover smell even some hours after I have completed the painting.

Will be looking to use their moderated thinner and find out how less pungent it is.

I want the Dragon Momoko MG Akatsuki pretty bad though

Anyway compressor is powered by what lol

compressor need to plug into electrical power points.
there are portable air pumps that have internal batteries that u recharge and use. but those have low pressure, and u cant spray for long period of time

Alternatively, get this air pump.

It is quiet yet powerful. I have been using both .3 and .5 brushes, spraying from surfacers to metallics with no problems at all.
