Sorry to dig out this old thread as I can't find any new and related one.

For one night stay coming from and back to Tokyo with budget for $300+, any hotel to recommend?

What is the place recommended to stay for such a 2D1N trip? Yumonto?

Thank your very much!

There are plenty depending on your interests. Do you want a ryokan with onsen experience or just a hotel?

I have just stayed in yamanochaya just this week. It's old school style with wood ceiling as well.

One taxi refused to fetch me there as he can't cross the bridge whereby the weight limit is 2 ton. In the end another cab dropped me off the bridge and it's a steep walk up. Not recommended for old folks.

While I have not stayed in ryokans before, I had my fair share of good food and sad to say yamanochaya did not make it for me with regards to the food. The food was plentiful but lacking in quality/ taste.

The private onsen was a nice touch as I was with my kids and they could enjoy it in the comfort of our room..

Morning check out was a bit rushed as breakfast was served at 830 and lasts for about 45 mins and checkout was at 10 but I guess the checkout timing should be the same across most luxury ryokans..
