HGST 1TB enterprise HDD just died with many precious documents and family photos. What freeware software to use to recover??

1st thing 1st: Got any funny noise (e.g. clicking) coming from the HDD? (If got, means HDD have mechanical failure => software cannot save you => need to bring to those data recovery places )

2nd: What other symptoms you seeing? Or at least, what did you see to make you conclude that your HDD has died?

3rd: Stay calm, do not do anything else with that HDD for now

If you see as RAW, then good luck.

If it is so previous you would have uploaded a copy elsewhere.

1- Got normal hdd reading sounds, but they are slower.

2- unable to read the contents in the hdd. Win 10 takes a long time to read the hdd, but it says need to format.

3- I am trying to use RecoveRX from Transcend, it is now not responding.

disable the SMART on BIOS, boot up with new hdd, "spoilt" hdd as secondary into windows.

Hello, I'm having the same problem as well, my hard disk died. I suspect it's the read head having issue, I'm getting stuck in the green ribbon of death . Any suggestions guys? Or any recommended outlets I can visit to get it recovered?

Hmm. You may need to either send straight to those data recovery shops seeing that it can be a mechanical failure, or can try using Clonzilla to clone the HDD to a spare 1TB HDD (but risky given your situation)

Hdd not dead yet. Maybe just one of the heads faulty. Recovery software won't work.
This situation needs special data recovery tools to recover your data.

My hdd. It's a Enterprise hdd, so it's more exp than the regular hdd. But it fails after 3 yrs... got 5 yrs warranty though
