Head/earphones Recommendations Thread

Would like to seek recommendation on a few models that I can check out.

Rig - Desktop with external AMP/DAC.
Usage - Music primarily, some movies.
File Format - Generally Flac, Wav and mp3.
Genre - Varies, but mostly on Choral, Orchestra/Instrumental and Rock.
Headphone Type - Open, Over-Ear. (On-Ear pads that can be swap for Over-Ear pads are fine too)
Budget - S$500 +/-

Hi, the Sennheiser HD600 is one of the best choices for your requirements. Another good model to consider would be the Audio-Technica ATH-AD900X. Both sounds airy and spacious for Choral, Orchestra/Instrumental but the HD600 would have an advantage in the bass department for rock compared to AD900X. If budget permits, The Sennheiser HD650 will most likely be my top recommendation being the best all rounder of the lot. Do drop by our stores for a demo.

i am coming from a apple earphone. I think just about anything would be an improvement. I just want to listen to music loud and clear while being decent for gaming as well. Also, i dont need a mic. My laptop's onboard mic will be fine.

Hi, the 3 models differs quite a bit on size and sound signature and price. The Grado SR80i is one of our fav entry headphones but being open back they are not well suited for noisy and outdoor and while the the AKG K550 is closed back and isolate sound better, their size profile might not be as portable as the B&W P3. Perhaps if let us know more on your requirements, we can assist in recommending suitable models for your needs.

I will be using it as an on-the-go headphones when i travel locally and abroad and sometimes it will also be used at home. Therefore you can count the AKG K550's out. Also, the P3's is as expensive as I will go. So those being said, which pair of headphones would you recommend? (It doesn't have to be any of the above)

- Other requirements : Mainly used during traveling to work or school

I'd like to point out that i have extremely small ears tried many IEMs but they either hurt or do not fit. Earbuds are the most comfortable but many that I've tried lack in the bass that most IEMs do. Just want earphones that sounds pleasant when I listen to music. Currently using the free earphones that came with my phone. They fit but they sound horrible. Thanks!

Or maybe the ath im50 and 70 too. The im70's $138 or so moi think

Hi, i concur the K550 and SR80i to be eliminated since you intend to use them on the go and travelling as well. The P3 is still an option to consider though we don't carry them currently. I would recommend the Harman Kardon SOHO which is a sleek and cool looking headphone like the P3. The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is another very popular model and lastly the Sennheiser Momentum OE which I think would be my pick among them. Do give them a try and see which suits you most.

You might want to try the Moshi Audio Mythro which comes with a microphone as well. Second choice could be the JVC FX101and the Audio Technica-CK323. All of these are suitable for the type of genre you're listening and of value for money.

We also suggest that you might want to head down to one of our shops to actually try the demos. You can ask our friendly staffs to change the ear tips to smallest size as the default would always be in Medium.

Hi there! You can check out the Steelseries Siberia V2 and the Razer Blackshark . Both of them uses a 3.5mm jack which you can use for your Iphone as well.

Hi! The recommendations earlier are one of the good choices which are the Fischer Audio Consonance and ATH-IM50. Additional to this, you can consider the Sennheiser CX300II.

With the genre that you are listening, personally I can say that these will suit. I also actually listen to Pop and RnB and I like how it goes with the Fischer Audio Consonance.

Hi! Maybe you can consider the JVC FXT-90, Shure SE215 SPE and the ATH-IM70. Personally, I find that the ATH-IM70 has the fullest bass with these three recommendations, followed by the Shure SE215 SPE which I find more balanced. The JVC FXT-90 has more controlled bass for me though.

I suggest that if possible maybe you can ask your friend to drop by to any of our shops and try the demos.

Both models share alot of similar traits and are quite closely priced. They have ample bass for the genres you like to listen to and perhaps the ATH-IM70 has a slight edge in the mids and highs faring better with vocal tracks. You really need to sit down and compare them side by side to decide which more of your cup of tea.
