Hi I am looking for AKG headphones which will provide good bass/vocalclarity as loudness & detailed vocals as priority, with background music.


- Your rig (mp3 players, amps, soundcard etc) : Samsung Smartphone/MP3, old school Sony CD walkman,play on laptop too
- What type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc) : Music & Movies
- File format used in your source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc) : MP3,MP4,AVI, orignal CD,movie DVD & concert DVDs
- Genre of music you listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc) :Jpop, Hip Hop,Soft Rock
- Headphone / earphone type (closed, open, cirumaural, IEM etc) :Closed/Open
- Other requirements (if any) (mic, volume control, 5.1ch, 7.1ch etc): Looking for full size open headphones with high impedance
- Budget (in figures) : 250-600 SGD preferably

I am very keen in AKG K702 and read many many great reviews. What is your take? Im just a music-consumer looking for studio-quality in music.
Currently own Sennheiser PX200 II,good for its price but lacking.

The K702 really suits you, other than that you can also try the Sennheiser HD650.
K702
- Flat but musical sounding
- Fantastic soundstage
- Great mids

Sennheiser HD650
- Very comfortable for long hours of listening
- Nautral sounding, great for live music
- Good bass control and mellow mids

You can also try out the JVC HA-FR45S =) since you listen to a lot of fast paced songs it might suit you.

Need to try if the earphones with mic suits your HTC phone but currently most Android phones should be fine.

however would u have any recommendations for headphones as well? comfort is the most important factor for long wear while travelling or studying and it would be good if it has mic and tangle free cables as well.

looking from past recommendations you made, it seems like UE4000 or FA-004 might be suitable? any other models?

The UE 4000 go slightly higher than $100 but both of them performs well at its price.

UE 4000
- Moderate clamp force, comfortable
- Detachable cable and good build quality
- Good bass and mids, bass not bloated
- Treble slightly recessed

FA-004
- Great sparkle and detail (higher treble)
- Tight mid-bass
- Balanced mids

Overall, I would say that the UE 4000 is a better choice but the FA004 is within your price range so its your call to see if the UE4000 is worth it. =)

the shure se215 regular version might be better, only cons are the cable length and the thickness of it. the 215 special ed has a shorter cable but the bass doesn't go as deep as the regular version. the regular version is going for 199 and special ed is 219 if i'm not wrong

if you are getting the um1, please note that there are 2 versions now, um1 and um1 colors. go for the um1 instead. the cables on the colors are not as good.

Have Tried shure but dun like it Cos the bass is too overwhelming... thanks anyway

Quite open about budget now since the current upgrade i'm looking at is SE535LTD(about $500 on hwz forums). Pretty decided on this but wanna see what other choices i have.. and i understand with UM coming during June that choice may be able to poison to spend a little more..

actually IEMs are stage monitors

the thing is now we interchangably use the word "IEM" with "in-ear canalphones"

I believe the greatest difference is the purpose, in-ear canalphones are consumer products, while stage monitors are used to "monitor" the voice of the vocalist on stage

That's what i thought also then u used Stage Monitors i thought it's different lol.

anyway Stereo doesn't have SM64, I know Jaben has but they doing reno (issit?) so need ask others where to see SM64
