Never really compared both before for SM3v2 and UM3x but they look slightly identical as well. =) Some did feedback they sound similar but UM3x less harsh.

Haha stressing over um2 and um3x, um2 sounds amazing with rock but um3x not as harsh as um2, spoilt for choices..

That's right we are not carrying Soundmagic anymore... if you really want to avoid in-ears I would also recommend the beyerdynamic DTX501p at $129 - it has a pretty balance sound and small in size, suitable for most of your genre of music.

Thanks for replying, Okays I've noted about SoundMagic In-Ears.
Actually, my brother bought the DTX501p (white cause no more stock) from PS Stereo too. [Promo @ 99] Which I kind of use it occasionally when he is not using it.

Overall i find it very nice and clear in pop (Diamonds-Rihanna, Avril Lavigne), country (Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, etc.). Songs that has some "beats, drums and some bass", it does it quite clean and clear enough i say for that price. Furthermore I liked the neat clean design too, other than the L-Shape plug. Only 2 things that I didn't like was the fact that it doesnt sound very good for instrumentals (pianos), where certain sounds are slightly bloomy and it can get slightly discomforting after long use (i.e. an hour or so)

Perhaps I'll come down to audit again, when I manage to find free time.

Hi guys, l got a funny request. I'm lookIng to buy for my wife a new earphones for her Samsung S3.

1. Prefers earpods type compare to ear buds. But if no choice, earbuds will do.
2.Must have mic, good if controls work.
3. Isolation must not be good. She wants to be able to hear train stop names as her Wakeup call.
4. Budget up to $80.
5. Source is her hp. English and Tamil mp3. No idea about sig test. But she doesn't like my ue700.
6. No white Or light Colour wire.

She is currently using my old creative ep630, which should be spoiling soon. Thanks for the help. l had almost given up.

Does anyone have any experience with the sm3v2 and um3x? How do they compare? I am considering to get either sm3v2, um3x or um2.. but can't find much comparisions (maybe considering tdk ba200 too, cheap)

Duno anything abt v2, but sm3 sounds closer to westone 4 than their other iems, with less treble and slightly more forward mids. Some ppl will like it, but it doen't really stand out to ppl who are relatively new in this, "boring" sound sig so to speak.

Um3x is just typical westone warm sound sig.

I don't want something with heavy bass. Mid bass is fine for me, Clarity is more important.

Currently I am considering a shure se 110 going @ $80 from a friend.

Kpop usually is bassy, somewhat fast, very boosted in the vocals part, and recording quality not good, so you should probably get IEMs that has relatively strong bass (not monster beats strong), extended but smooth treble, and laidback mids.

Not sure if UE/logitech has any IEMs in that price range, otherwise klipsch or jays should be ok ba. Just try before buying can liao.

hmm.. but I listen to instrumentals too, those from korean drama OST like this (but obviously the quality is better than the yt upload)

I also listen to non pop korean tracks by artists like leessang, and ocasionally ballads.

I'm considering Shure SE215 (several sellers selling at 70~100), as well as any potential reccomendations in this thread.

Stereo seems to have alot lesser products on it's website since I last visited it.
