Would appreciate your assistance on this. Am looking for headphones that would fit the following requirements:

- What type of usage: Movies, gaming, and music
- File format used in your source: Mostly mp3
- Genre of music you listen to: Jazz, classic/alt rock, indie, metal, blues, and classical music
- Headphone / earphone type: circumaural
- Other requirements (if any): would prefer to have a pair that does not require amping. Portable
- Budget: $200 - $300

I have shortlisted 3 pairs, namely: Fischer Audio FA-003, Audio Technica ATH-MS50X, and AKG K271MKII. I've searched the net and found tonnes of flattering reviews for the FA-003 and mixed reviews for the latter ones. However the FA-003 just seem too HUGE to be portable and some of the reviews i've read claimed that it works best with an amp (hence i am of two minds on whether or not to get them). It would be great to hear your comments or recommendations.

Hi! Upon reading this, to be honest, the first thing that came up to my mind is the Fischer Audio FA003Ti. I've managed to try them not long ago and I liked the transparency of its sound, bass just nice, tight and controlled and imo soundstage is wider compared to the other two models you've mentioned. Along this line, perhaps you can also compare to some Shure headphones like the SRH750 DJ and the SRH840. Give them a try first so you can have a thorough comparison and decide which one will be best for your needs.

Upon reading just want to share with you, recently I just try a few headphone models but I choose the Klipsch Status and Seinheiser momentum. The seinheiser momentum ($489) I would says Well-balanced neutral sound that works well for many audio applications, but slightly lack on treble and the earcup wont comfortably fit larger ear. As for the Klipsch Status ($399) it have gorgeous mids, great extended bass, no sibilance. As for the earphone just need to season it as A little tight on the ears, another thing I like about the Status it's exterior is tough as nails. I think for lasting it wont go wrong.
You can go to anyn apple outlet EPi center, Nubox, Istudios etc etc to check them out. Hope this helps

Hi! Perhaps you can have a comparison between Westone UM Pro 10 and Audio Technica ATH-IM01. If you can consider dynamic drivers, one of the good options will be the Shure SE215 SPE and the JVC FX-T90. Imo, I actually like the clarity for FX-T90, bass is tighter and has wide soundstage. You can audition the demo sets in both of our stores.

I had been using Grado sr open can for sometime listening to music.. but when comes to gaming and movie i feel its too sharp and not punchy bass enough.. I also trying ATH M50 now which is not bad... But i still hope there is a $300 range headphone that beats ATH 50 for me....Some reviews says Beryer custome pro is good but seems like cant buy in sg. Pls recommend me tks. I no need a mic though. I never imagine i will get poison to come here post again lol.

Hi! With your requirements, besides the ATH-M50X, you can consider the Shure SRH750 DJ, Sennheiser HD449 and if you can extend the budget a bit, you can take a look at Marshall Monitor. All these models are over the ear type of headphones which are very comfortable to use and are suitable for wearing for long hours. They are not only good for bass but also has clear mids which will be good for the genre of songs that you listen to. I suggest that you try these models as well and let your ears be the judge. We have some models that you can use for sports and within your preferred price range like Audio Technica ATH-CKP200 and ATH-CKP500, and if you can stretch the budget a bit, can consider the Yurbuds Inspire that has ambient awareness for safety reasons that doesn't compromise the sound quality. Comfort wise, better to audition these models first. We have them in both outlets.

Thanks Stereo! I ended up getting the Audio Technica ATH-IM02 IEMs, they sound really detailed and clear. The bass isn't strong enough for a basshead but it's definitely present. Vocals and guitars are great and the music just sounds very rich. 2 balanced armature drivers are used. The fit and isolation is good but I'm still getting used to the memory wire portion around my ears.I'd recommend it for anyone looking for IEMs around this price range!
