surprisingly... i was gonna expect that the scorpion would kill off my Merlin due to the signature of the Merlin. but... i was proved, *******, wrong.
Well all i can say is, generally, a copper cable would either boost bass or create "lusher" or "more fully bodied" vocal range or both.
but the Scorpion here is really a surprise, like how you end your day's work, and the moment you look up to your bed, she's waiting for you... all warmed up and ready to go!
ok what Toxic cable Scorpion did for my UM Merlin was, it tightens the bass and controls it extremely well; the tone and rumble no longer have a slight overtone or over emphasis. to add on, it also created a sort of separation between my sub-lows and lows and mid lows, and added further more resolution to each freq range.
And to it's vocal range, the vocals are much more livelier and vivid, with a hint of body and lushness.
Good thing that it didnt spoil my highs by bringing it down or something, which is good to hear... for me at least.
and to further add on to the above impressions/comment, it also rounded off my staging and imaging. ok how i normally hear/feel my staging is by drawing a certain shape in front of... say a mic. without the Scorpion cable, it is a rectangular block with sharp edges.
With the Scorpion, it created a kidney shape in front of the mic, with very rounded edges.
I believe the Scorpion adds more characteristics to how it wants music to be presented, but too bad, when i was trying it out, a group of people at a certain corner was talking pretty loudly, so i could not critique how well the scorpion can perform. but since i would be receiving my scorpion soon, hehehehe another realm of audio nirvana for me liaos. hahahaha
