Having an NVMe SSD such as Intel 750 or Samsung 950 Pro will make a lot of difference when TS needs to work with Solidworks and video editing programs like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. The scrubbing through of footage will be faster during video editing, making it easier to work with crazy 4k footage or multiple 1080p footage layers.

For gaming and general web browsing, NVMe SSD will still be faster than regular SATA3 SSD, but the impact is not as great as during video editing and 3D modelling.
Thanks for insight~ in that case he should get a 950 Pro?

I think the Asus x99 Deluxe over voltage problem has been resolved. It only happened for the first few batches?

Yup. The Samsung 950 Pro 256GB SSD shld be enough for TS.

I noe the Asus X99 Deluxe issue has been resolved. But coz of this Asus brand name has been tarnished for the X99 platform. So far MSI has no problems for X99. So brand wise MSI seems to be more reliable than Asus for X99 locally. But then if TS wants to hunt for Asus X99-A, that mobo might need some scouting in SLS shops coz it's getting rarer.

I think might be quite a bit of a stretch to say asus name for x99 is tarnished for that incident...

A bit lah, but still if a mobo suffers from bad BIOS revisions u would be cautious when buying rite? :)

Now I think the problem for TS is more of local availability of Asus X99-A than the brand reputation of Asus X99 boards.

Not sure whether Gigabyte brought in their X99 mobo. If they have you should get Gigabyte.

CDL stopped bringing in Gigabyte X99 boards since June last year. If u r lucky might still see Gigabyte X99-UD4 leftover stocks in SLS shops.

Guess the market demand for X99 is not huge in SG. Anyway, your rig supports hackintosh?

Yups, it does. Until OSX 10.10.5. Cant go further than that due to motherboard (MSI X99 does not enjoy good support for hackintosh).

Not bad. At least still able to run most of the features. Is it smooth and stable?

Yups. As long as I can install it, it runs smooth and runs better than the 6-core Xeon found in latest Mac Pros. But as long as I don't get stuck on the Mac kernels and kexts (I won't go into details of these). I still have problems installing El Capitan, so well...

I checked out SLS shops just now (coz looking for cable from lvl 6). PCThemes replenished their stock for Asus X99-A and X99-Sabertooth. Fuwell has MSI X99-SLI Plus on their shelves. Video Pro has got no X99 stock at all on their shelves.

Just went to research abit and realise broadwell-e might be launching 1 or 2 months time. Should i wait or just get 5820k? Will there be a chance more x99 board will be coming in due to the new chip release?

It's more of a gamble in this case. Maybe or maybe not the Broadwell-E will be cheaper than Haswell-E.
