Okay so somehow the problem is fixed, for now. Here's how:

I installed the 337.81 beta driver from nvidia which the nvidia forum claims to have fixed the "black screen" problem but still no use. However, I did took out the graphics card from the motherboard and re-install it again and it worked.

I still do not know what caused the problem but it is working now. Thank you all

Faced this before when playing Titanfall. Suddenly restart, display was ok until Windows booted up (ie graphics card driver took over). Quite clear to me the issue was the driver since POST, etc was fine.

Go to safe mode. Attempt to uninstall your graphics driver(s). After that go to Device Manager, right click your graphics adapter and click uninstall. Make sure you check an option that reads along the lines of delete driver. Restart. It should be fine now using default drivers (screen resolution would be terrible but its ok). Uninstall the remaining graphics drivers. Restart. Install the latest drivers.
