u can try the cpu on another mobo. sometimes, mobo may be slightly warped and this affects the mounting. or try a different cooler.

I have a similar problem a few months back. My set is also a i5 750 and is about 5 years old.

I realised that both my PSU ans CPU were overheating and hence the frequent shutdowns.

I cleaned up the dust of the heatsinks of both the PSU and CPU (quite a lot as I have not cleaned in 5 years). Reapplied heatpaste. I bought Arctic Silver (ceremique 2) from Amazon, which cost me about $5. You may want to view utube on how to remove & replace the heatsinks of CPU and PSU. It is easy to mess this up, which I did in my first attempt. You need to ensure that the pins are properly primed before you put the HS back. Just watched Utube for more clue as to how to properly replace the heatsink.

Now my CPU temp is below 50C. Cheap fix.

lga 1156, 1155 and 1150 all have the same mounting hole.
you can use 1150 stock cooler on a 1156 mobo....FYI:eek:

Yes it it not very easy to replace the heatsink and you must not use too much strength to force it. I have to watch Utune a few times before I knew how it is done.

One more thing, the thermal paste takes a couple of days of repeating usage of the computer, to fully reach its maximum thermal conductivity. Good luck.
