Yes I'm quite aware.

Going by the same reasoning, why choose one Intel powered laptop over another?

It's partly customer service which is very poor for most Taiwanese makes here. They just don't budget much for service and repair.

The main reason though is the Ferrari pricing for a low end brand. They have had financial trouble in recent years and I've mostly been unimpressed with their products either from an engineering or quality standpoint. Unless they do a alienware and spin off as a separate brand with a different focus and budget, I won't pay a premium for their products.

There are other options available in this price bracket with a lot more to offer.

Any particular reason for the brand boycott
(e.g. poor cs)?

Because for the record most display panels are made by the same few OEMs including Samsung, LG, Sharp, AU Optronics (Formerly part of Acer).

And AUO Panels are so widespread that you probably have one on your laptop or PC monitor but just unaware.

For panels go by the colour calibration/profile, viewing angle, backlight evenness, resolution, feature measurements than pure brand faith honestly.

My 3200mhz c16 can only run at 2933mhz as of now though.

Probably no need for Cryorig if not OCing.

I got the x34 @ 1199 before rebates and cashback, I think they are selling x34A now.

Will help with 2 more as intake fans since that case only comes with 2 fans by default.

Just realized the Galax 1080ti is still $1169 on Lazada if you prefer local warranty. Not sure if its better than EVGA though...

x34A @ 1277 on Lazada, the stand can swivel, unlike x34.

Ok will add those then.

Do you think sls or pcshow will be selling the x34a for a cheaper price?

Last Pc show I went, price was near MSRP. Simlim only slightly cheaper than MSRP.

Lazada definitely cheaper with Liveup + Shopback, I think there should be free delivery too.

x34 with box will fit in a normal taxi backseat (from personal experience :) ) but if private hire car, be careful, because the door opening needs to be quite big. I had to take a taxi because it could not enter my own back seat car door opening

My suggestion is get home delivery if at all possible because it really is quite massive

Hi mortui,

You might want to wait and see for your choice of CPU, as Intel will be launching the new generation Coffee Lake CPU on the 21st Aug (slightly more than 1 week away). If you are not in a hurry to buy now, I suggest that you wait for the launch and compare the performance with AMD before making a decision.

This Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11GB can be had for cheaper if you use the Qoo10 ($100 min. $600 purchase) coupon. Price is $1179 before applying any discounts or coupons. Link here: http://list.qoo10.sg/item/GIGABYTE-GEFORCE-GTX-1080-TI-GAMING-OC-11G-EX-STOCK-TODAY-20/543902580

Power Supply can go for either of these (prices before applying discounts):

(1) Superflower Leadex II Gold 90+ Full Modular 650W - $178 (Lazada)

(2) EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3 80 Plus Gold 650W Fully Modular - $178.80 (Lazada)

For further discounts on Lazada, you can use their Citibank credit card promo code (OFFICIALCITI) for 8% off (capped at $20), LiveUp (5% rebate) and Shopback. Keep a look out for other credit card promos as well.

Details on LiveUp and Shopback:

Had two very bad experiences with Qoo10 for GPU, both different sellers.

Waited about 2 months for the first for collection, seller told me item EOL. - Gtx 1070 Amp extreme.
All these waiting and instruction to cancel and refund of order was done verbally and had trouble getting CS to refund me. (No proof from seller and seller didn't reply messages on Qoo10, had to threaten with police report before seller decided to reply)

Purchased Strix 1070 @ 729 after that $100 coupon, before sudden price hike to 949, first staff told me its instock and will confirm with me on collection details. Second staff told me item out of stock and to cancel my order few minutes later.

I would rather pay more to buy GPU from Lazada or Amazon.

Thanks for the tips Irenicus. But I had already went ahead to place orders for the evga 1080ti on amazon and the x34a on lazada hahha.

Cpu wise, i read that coffee lake will only be sold in feb 2018 even if its specs are released 21 aug this year. Abit too long for me haha.

Had the monitor delivered to the office cos no one is gome to receive it. Hope the cab can fit lol

I heard Coffee Lake will be released in September/October but we'll have to wait and see on the launch date when it will actually be sold.

My receipt states 3year onsite warranty. Not sure if its true.

Mine is also vaguely seen when lights are off at 25%.
Not obvious during games right? Camera makes it look really bad hahah
If wanna rma will be back to acer right?
Kinda lazy to do that tho hahaha

Mine can be seen when lights are off, I use mine at 25% brightness though.

My 100% is so much worse than yours hahaha, but doesn't look like this in real life.

Most probably, mine too but it's a Dec 2016 manufactured set x34, I would assume your QC would be better since its x34A.

Not sure if BLB/IPS glow is accepted by Acer for repair or not since it's not as bad as flickering or other problems.

Mine can be seen at 20% at the corners, but alr spent 1k+ and no dead pixels, just let your eyes adapt to that small bit of glow and enjoy it :s13:

Hahah ok. Theres no dead pixel, so its a plus. But the screen size now seems like abit too big. Oh well hahaha

Woulnd have noticed the glow without looking for it too, so i guess its ok then.

The refresh rate is stuck at 50hz now, but im powering from my laptop, so that could be the case. Will need to test when i get the rest of my pc. Thanks man haha

Wah lucky i listened to you and had it delivered home. The box was so freaking huge. I though it would be slimmer at least hahaha. People might think i had a dead body in there.

Ok. Will see what they announce on 21 aug. But i cant wait to get my pc up and running haha. Any release date is too late if its not next week šŸ˜…
