Hi. I recently got an Asus Hero VI mobo (intel 4770k chip).

I use starhub broadband at home (Motorola surfboard modem).

So to get internet connection, what I did was to install the mobo driver for LAN connection and then I got online using direct cable connection from modem to mobo, all is great.

However, the connection cannot be detected upon next boot up, so I uninstalled and re-installed the same LAN connection driver and I got online again for that session.

This however keeps recurring on each and every boot up, ie. I have to uninstall and re-install driver before I can go online.

Troubleshooting is unable to identify the problem, although when I look at the log, it says issue with hardware adapter or something.

I cannot be uninstalling and re-installing the driver with every boot up. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks!

Might be some other driver interfering .

Make sure your driver is the latest from the mb site or use slim drivers .

Go device manager when the error occur to see if theres any driver interfering and uninstall/disable it .

Try different versions of the drivers. Sometimes updating drivers may not necessarily a good idea.

Look like a domain account which erase all settings upon reboot.

Thanks, but how do I know at Device Manager whether any other driver is interfering? Sorry but I'm new at this.

Thanks, but the problem is only confined to the online connection, all other settings still there. But is there any way to test your suspicion, should I do something to my comp?

Firstly thanks for all the help, I deeply appreciate it.

An update that yesterday I un-installed the anti-virus (that came in the mobo driver disk, no less) and the problem was solved. So that anti-virus (starting with "K") wasn't compatible with the intel ethernet driver. For info of those who meet this problem in future.

Peace out.
