Hi All

I am able to power up my com and load into windows but after a few minutes it auto restart and then it is unable to load into window. I have tried re sitting the rams and tried individual rams and disconnect everything except for 1 hdd but the problem is still there, would appreciate if someone can advise what would be the possible problem.

My rig details are as follows
I5 2400
biostar tp67b
gigabyte 6850
2 X 4 gb ram
Superflower 500 psu
3 x hdd

Thanks in advance.

  • Go to the bios, check the cpu temp
  • Graphics card fan moving ?
  • Visual inspection : Check if any components burn, North and south bridge chip problem?
  • change the power supply and see
  • Swap the RAM, one-by-one to see which RAM is not stable.

Cpu temp 65°c
graphic card fan moving
how to check north n south bridge problem?
I don't have spare psu any other alternative?
I have tried 1 by 1 in two different slots but still having problem

65°C for idling CPU is on the high side. Either thermal grease dried up or CPU HSF not in proper contact with CPU.

Then boot with everything else except the hard disk. Let it boot into BIOS. Depending on your motherboard, usually press Delete key during boot will boot into BIOS. Let it stay there and see if it reboots. If no reboot, then high change your hard disk may be the culprit.

I have re applied the thermal paste and the stock cooler however the cpu temperature starts from 50°c and only now stabilize at 63°c can't get it down any further

*update*
even when I leave the com idle at bios it will auto restart after a while

1) What casing are you using?

2) If a change of thermal paste doesn't help, think your CPU cooler is going to spoil. Can consider getting a cheap CPU cooler from SLS for $10+.

1) CM 690, an old case might look to replace if there is a need to.
2) any model to recommend?

A cheap Deepcool Archer/Gamaxx 200/Iceblade will do, no need for a high end cooler. Any cheap aftermarket cooler will always perform better than the Intel stock cooler.

See if you want a blow down type CPU cooler or a small (92mm fan) tower cooler.

I have replaced the stock cooler but my com still restarts now it's worse, it won't even boot, no display at all. The last round when I checked the bios cpu temp was around 55°c. Any advice?

Is the rig running but there is no picture? Is there any beep sound from your rig?

Yup running but no sound, all the fans are running. No beep sound at all, press power on then the monitor shows entering power saving mode n stays there.

can TS test with just 1pc of RAM and insert into the white slots , i suspect you accidentally shorted circuit something when changing the cooler.

By the white slots I assume the red and white slots for the ram? Tried and still no display.

why initially still can go into the BIOS, and now cannot?
you must have accidently shorted something

I am not sure, after I changed the cooler I was able to go into windows but the restarting problem is still there. After a few restarts it totally can't boot, possible to have the GPU damage during this process?
