Help with ram upgrade and how much?

Hi, I'm planning to upgrade the ram on my Dell Inspiron 660s to 8gb ram.
Is it possible to just purchase one 4gb stick to upgrade on top of what I have, or is it really necessary to purchase a pair to upgrade? Also like does the brand makes a difference?

Can show us pic of the memory tab as well? So that we will know whether it is ddr3 or ddr2..

I believe you can just purchase 1 more stick, but make sure the speeds are the same, otherwise the higher speed will be bottlnecked by the lower speed.

Yes.. maybe one more thing to look out for is the latency timings... best is both are the same...

Might be purchasing a pair, depending on price. I just need to take note of it being a PC2-12800, 1600MHz ram right?

I doubt sitex do sell laptop rams... need go sls to get. But, make sure there isnt any warranty sticker on the laptop part whereby you would need to take out in order to install the rams.

Go download the pricelists and compare which shop is cheaper.

What OS are u using and its bit? If it is 32-bit, getting more than 4gb ram is useless since it is capped at 4gb..

Windows 8.1. Its 64-bit. I'm planning to upgrade it because I'm using programs such as Autodesk AutoCAD/3DsMax.

Not really. If the applications are only 32-bit, then each instance of the application can only access up to 4GB.
