I have a Acer G5910 that is bought 1.5 years back.
Here are the specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz
MotherBoard: BIOSTAR TH67XE
RAM: 16.0 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2 GB
OS: Window 7 64-bit

I'm planning to buy ASUS GeForce GTX 770 and I doubt the current PSU won't be enough for that, so what PSU should I get?

P.S. Warranty is still on, so I cannot open the case to check the PSU. Just asking for suggestion, so I could start to save money for it. :p

I have no experience with AMD. I heard that it is pretty hot.

You could get an nvidia card but you get less performance per dollar spent.

The amd cards are hotter but it should not be a problem. The manufacturer would not sell a card that cannot keep itself sufficiently cool.

If you psu is of unknown brand, get a new one of at least 600w.
Consider getting an SSD if you dont have one. Wont change gaming performance, but will improve boot times.
Rest of your budget should go into getting the most expensive card you can afford

Please get a better PSU like Seasonic, silverstone or Corsair. I don't believe in CM PSUs :p

From my quick research using Google, your PC's guts looks something like this:

Acer%20Predator%20G5910_internal.jpg

This looks good as your rig is highly upgradable.( I have no idea how the PSU is staying up there though.)

However, if you want to install an R9 280, do try to remove the hotswap bays as they may get in the way of your GPU. After you install the GPU, do use MSI Afterburner to crank up the GPU fan speed for added GPU cooling as OEM casings are not very conductive in ensuring smooth air flow.

Suggested upgrade parts:

SEASONIC S12G-Non MODULAR 650W (129)
ADATA SP900 128GB (99)
MSI R9 280 3GB TURBODUO (339)

Total cost: $567

Buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, go to PC Care & Solution at #02-32 and ask Nigel to help you install these parts for a fee.

Thanks. Uhm, what is the difference between 280 and 280x? And it is worth it to get a 280x instead?

280 is similar to 7950 whereas 280x is similar to 7970ghz, which is the boost ver of 7970.

If u can get a good deal for 280, den go ahead. But so far, no good deals. And powercolour 280x turboduo seems to be at $418 (comex promo, not sure if still around). Even if its over, srp is $438 and you can bargain to get at around $420 or so.
