High Cholesterol. Need advice.

Just did a health check and cholesterol numbers are:
- Total Cholesterol: 252 mg/dL
- HDL Cholesterol: 51 mg/dL
- LDL Cholesterol: 182 mg/dL
- TC/HDL Ratio: 4.95
- Triglycerides: 95 mg/dL

Need to start taking meds? Any other advice?

Update in 2025
6-month update since finding out and trying to reduce my high cholesterol. Good news is I was able to bring LDL down, but TG rose slightly.

- Total Cholesterol: 227 mg/dL
- HDL Cholesterol: 50 mg/dL
- LDL Cholesterol: 155 mg/dL
- TC/HDL Ratio: 4.52
- Triglycerides: 109 mg/dL

I honestly didn't change lifestyle too drastically. Ate more fish and veg. Brown rice where possible. Less frequency of v unhealthy food like ramen, fast food etc. Didn't increase amount of exercise.

please seek consultation than decide things on your own

saving money at a time like this is really :s22:
at least be assured of the health status that u are currently in right now

cut out the carbs, increase only lean meat. Anything that has carbs WILL have problems.. and that means all.... but who am i kidding,

some will still say Carnivore diet is not scientific and veggies are still good for your healthy...

4.95 TC/HDL ratio is borderline-high. Need to do something about it...cut down on processed food. Exercise more.

Avoid sugar.
Read ingredients list and don buy food and beverages that use hydrogenated oil, shortening and margarine.


Do not order drink that use milk power like bubble tea (mostly chemically processed dairy). Don eat cream / dressing from bread, sandwiches salad and burgers. Avoid pastries , snacks and processed food too.


Everyday exercise and control Ur diet for 3 months diligently. Eat oats. U would see huge reduction in Ur bad cholesterol

Eat low or zero cholesterol food. Cut down on fatty food

Forced march 10Km twice a week for 6 months

eat more sardines, salmon, mackerels.....those oily fish.
No fried chicken, fried sotong, fried banana etc....
Can also try the Weetbix with lowering cholesterol effect....basically an oat or wheat cereal

Moderate exercise - dont want to KO cause high cholestrol tends to have high BP. And exercise too much will cause your LDL to rise also.
