Went for doc review. Doc asked me to cut all animal fat. Only plant based oil. I ask her whether fried food is ok, she say as long as it's not animal fat.

Also ask me to eat more fish, but not crustaceans.

And exercise more, 150min a week at least. Strength training is also not counted in the 150min, as that is calisthenics
Looks like this doctor definitely wants to be his/her long-term patient (not in a good way)

Pufa-based oils are highly inflammatory - it's largely made up of O6 and we didn't eat much of these oils until the last few decades and did we see an improvement in health?

As a personal enlightenment, go read up on Ancel Keys - the so-called "father" of the cholesterol hypothesis

See if he was serving everybody's best interest or just that of the big food corporations ;)

You’re right, LDL is the fireman. If a doctor calls LDL the arsonist, it’s a sign to switch doctors.
Unfortunately, not many doctors dare to go against the "guidelines" here

However, there are some who understand and say they got to say what the guidelines tell them to say, but if our health is improving, please monitor and continue to do whatever we are doing ;)

I can confirm exercise don't reduce LDL. I jog for 124 hours this year which equates to 143mins of vigorous exercise weekly and my LDL didn't go down. Currently around 180.

Diet is still more important than exercise for us to get healthier

Eating highly processed and sugary food will probably cancel out any good from exercising ;)

Why are we so fixated over a number? :(

Cholesterol results, especially LDL figures, aren't a good predictor of CHD in the first place

Studies after studies have shown that most heart attack victims have "normal" levels of cholesterol

More importantly, cholesterol has never been proven to be a direct cause of CHD and stroke

Instead, studies seem to suggest that those with higher LDL levels live longer than those with normal to low LDL levels

Just like when we have a bad infection and our bodies provide a fever - is just trying to bring down our body temperature going to help with the infection? It may relieve some discomfort but the main problem is not the fever, but the infection remains untreated

We should start looking at why cholesterol is high in the first place and not just bring down the number to satisfy some guidelines

Only eat one meal a day

43 yo
Height 172 weight 63 to 64kg

Was borderline high 3.73 mmol in July.
Now December 4.35 high.

I believe I ate less fast food during the period but more whole food compare to before.

Starts to jog a bit during that period too but went high instead. I do sit alot. Got fatty liver.

What's wrong?

I drink kopi si kosong, espresso or coffee black only. Don't drink soft drinks, smoke or alcohol.

I don't have sweet tooth.
Glucose 4.9
Hdl 1.93
Triglycerides 0.76
Total cholesterol 6.61

No. I'm eating oats to replace white rice for dinner now.

Also cutting down on coffee intake daily.

The problem I have with statins is that ... It manages the symptoms and not the root cause. I prefer to resolve the root cause.

That's what I concur. Eating oats to replace white rice and reduce coffee intake. Shall see how it goes 6months later.

Eat oats. It is the miracle food. Actually very yummy too. Doctor will 100% ask you to take drugs.
Am also on overnight oats. Actually took it for high blood pressure. It helped controlled my hpb and my cholesterol got better because of that. I think my fatty liver is gone due to this as well. Cos that's my only diet change.

The one meal a day
, sometimes irregular diet messes up the cholesterol due to improper diet and nutrients
Take at least 0.8g per kg body weight protein
And 300g veg per day
Stop eating caipng, high sodium like 麻辣香锅
And uninterrupted 7-8hrs sleep

Just did a health check and cholesterol numbers are:
- Total Cholesterol: 252 mg/dL
- HDL Cholesterol: 51 mg/dL
- LDL Cholesterol: 182 mg/dL
- TC/HDL Ratio: 4.95
- Triglycerides: 95 mg/dL

Need to start taking meds? Any other advice?

You didn't ask your doctor after your blood test? We are not qualified to give medical advice actually.

There are usually some "*" or "red fonts" in the report if the result failed, along side the expected reading ranges. You should really consult your doctor.

Disclaimer: this is not medical advice.
