High GI (not high fructose) has its advantages for active people. 1.2g carb per kg bodyweight every 30 mins for 2 hours after a serious workout, greatly maximise recovery. Taken with enough protein is even better.
Our bodies can also run on ketones and that's a cleaner source of fuel IMHO

Also, many with metabolic disorders are not the active types to begin with hahah

So not sure if they should be taking instant oats when they eat and then go and sit in front of the PC all day ;)

There is a new "trend" called slow jogging

It's really very very slow - just slightly faster than a normal walking pace - and it's said to be more beneficial for our bodies and health

How low can the pressure on the knee cap be from this one? Pressure is the result of force divided by the contact area. Even when walking, the pressure on the knee cap typically falls between 1,031,550Pascal and 1,375,400Pascal. However, because the knee cap has an undulating surface, the actual pressure could be much higher, and since it lacks regenerative ability, it can suffer irreversible damage.

It's as low impact as walking yet providing similar or better efficiency than normal jogging bah

Despite what doctors keep telling us, we have to use our bodies, especially our legs, or lose it

I used to suffer from chronic knee issues from over-used from sports and exercising - also suffered traumatic injuries from contact sports and army etc

I used to have a very loose left knee cap and it would pop out from over-exertion but after I restarted deep squatting exercises on advice of my chinese sinseh, I am back to swimming, jogging etc and my knees have not given me any problems since

Congratulations - it tells us nothing about our heart health ;)

Don't know why the medical professionals are still using it as a proxy or predicator for heart events when studies after studies failed to prove any conclusive link between high cholesterol and mortality; instead, the reverse seems to be true

This will definitely be better than walking for sure. Walking doesn't really improve health because the body is so efficient at walking. You have to walk a lot everyday to gain any minimal health benefits.

Anything more "physical" than walking will be better. But obviously, not good for people with joint pain already, in which case also cannot walk that much anyway.

I think we have to remove that "mental block" that oh my knees hurt, I should use them less

I think a lot of doctors have come around in their way of thinking - many want us on our feet as soon as we can after an operation etc

But unfortunately, it has not really trickled down to the common people - they all shun physical exertion and that's why we see more and more folks on PMDs

However, they are just saboing themselves - the more they don't use their legs, the worse their condition will become

I always use myself as an example - I have had very bad knees since my late 20s due to over-use and injuries in my youth

I was destined for a knee replacement once I got closer to 50 but luckily I did my own research, changed my diet, increased my exercise routine and now I have no more knee issues

Deep squatting was one of the best exercises that helped my knees, ligaments and muscles

I have gone back to playing weekend football, swimming, jogging and I don't have to suffer any sore knees after that, unlike in the past when I have to ice my knees and limp around for a better part of the week after any strenuous activity

You need to do more leg strengthening exercises like deep squatting

Once you build up the surrounding muscles around the knee, it will not hurt that much or at all

Ya need to do strengthening. Your muscles are just weakening as you get older.
