I have been wearing a pair of Timberland Goretex. Cost me about $220 at sports house.. Been to Nepal, China, Rinjani with me. The sole is made from recycled rubber tires, super durable considering how I bang into rocks here and there. Not much of a scratch yet. And Goretex for the confidence of stepping into streams.

Please do yourself a favour and don't wear SAF boots for such treks. I have seen at least 2-3 friends' SAF boots crack apart during the trek. They aren't that durable and the new Frontier boots are a joke for muddy routes.

I will only be hiking once, and it will be at Bukhansan Mountain.

Please advise is it ok if I wear this shoe that I owned

http://www.asos.com/New-Balance/New...Trainers/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=5579048&r=2

I also have normal converse, flyknit lunar

Not sure if any of the soles are fit for hiking, at least not so dangerous. Please help thanks!

IMHO, I'd make do with the NB. Maybe 3 hours of a hike?

Go Campers Corner at 51 Waterloo Street and let them recommend you.

I rotate between Merrell Moab, Asolo Blaze and Salomon Quest 4D II GTX.

Both are goretex and have accompany me to kinabalu, rinjani, patagonia, tmb and ebc. Bringing them for my kili trip soon.

For heavy duty winter/ alpine boots, I'll recommend la sportiva or scarpa. Either Makalu or Charmoz.
