If you are looking at mini led, tcl 825 brightness not there. Only 500 nits or so.

Then tcl 835 is too bright at 1500 nits. Overkill. Too bright for the eyes. And the price is also likely to be 600-1000 dollars more, might as well get Samsung TV!

I guess it's up to Hisense whether they will allow you to cancel your order for the U8H. May be difficult to get it cancelled purely because it uses an IPS panel instead of a VA one

I'm looking closely at the TCL C835.. but if the price is too high I'll go for the an OLED after all, even if I can't shake the fear of burn in..
I already had an oled, it became a serious preocupation to me, I bothered the whole house to take care about what content they watched, had to zoom in the picture while watching tv chanels with logos or game with bright HUD...
That's why I want to revert to Mini LED

U8H prices are up on Hisense SG website. Running on Vidaa OS so again, not exact US variant announced at CES.

Looks like intro launch price at 2999 is still valid.. waiting for better price before triggering.. probably 8.8 sales ? Lol

Found out that U7G uses Vidaa OS and runs at 60Hz which isn't as "good" as Android OS.

Is 120hz still required if you only watch Netflix n Disney+ ?. The u7g looks good on paper

Probably not, subjective to user experience of course.

Some of us have shared information on these new 2022 SG variant models about 2 months ago. It has clear information that the U7H and U8H 2022 TVs were equipped with IPS panels instead and are not the same as the ones sold in the U.S.

Unfortunately the thread was merged with the old one hence the starting post was buried in this old thread. If the mod could assist to edit the Poll to indicate that the Panel types are IPS, this can reduce buyer remorse since the poll was created before Hisense SG revealed the panel type.
In the brackets of the poll just put as so:
(IPS Panel, 4K, UHD) etc

Anyway I hope you are able to get a refund which should be reasonable if you have not receive or have not unbox it. Last resort, request for exchange for the U7G (2021) model which is using a VA panel (If I recalled correctly only the largest size is using IPS panel, be sure to confirm with them if you're eyeing on the 75"/85"). Its cheaper so you should receive a partial refund.

At the current asking price for the U8H, it is not a great buy considering its IPS instead of VA. Contrast ratio, color volume, screen uniformity will take a hit in performance as seen in all TVs with IPS panels:

Seems like the rep gave either of us incorrect information. If they can guarantee that the U7H 85" is truly a VA panel then it is a decent buy compared to the smaller sizes.

The above contrast ratio of the U7H 85" taken directly from their website indicates an IPS level contrast ratio. VA should be 3000:1 (worst case scenario) or higher (5000:1 or higher).

It is likely that the rep which informed they are all IPS panels is accurate, unless their own website also indicates incorrectly.
