Hi all,

I've been researching into TVs and Hisense u7k seems to have good reviews from multiple sources as a good value for money TV. However, the prices overseas and US is USD800 for the 65 inch, but in SG it's SGD$2999. That's almost a difference of SGD$1K.

Which is really weird because at $3k SGD, it no longer becomes a value for money TV. I feel that it is more logical for their pricing to be similar to TCL C745 (Perhaps slightly higher) at $1.6k to $1.8k range.

Anyone felt the same way through your research as well? Because there's only one distributor in SG, is this distributor artificially inflating the price to increase their margins?

colours seem quite comparable hardly can tell any differences.
huge difference will be no more blooming during dark scenes.
Today the Hisense support got back to me after I reported blue tinge on my 1.5 year 65" U8H.

They offered a new U7K with $300 topup.
I managed to bargain down to $200 since their website now have $100 discount for the same model! I wonder how come they didn't offer me U7N ah?

Actually I am quite happy and impressed with their support SLA. I reported issue on Mon, Tue got offer, delivery of new tv on Fri but had to delay to following week due to my schedule.

Your timeline exactly same as mine.
Agreed totally, their service recovery is superb!

U7N does not have 65''

Looks like U8H model seriously have some issues, model couldn't last at all.

indeed!
how's ur U7K?
Very happy with the U7K !

Perhaps I have a low bar to start with since my old LG TV was 7 years old and everything on U7K is so snappy and the screen looks so bright and sharp.

But after 2 weeks of using it, there are some minor issues which prevent it from being perfect.

Turning on and off is way faster, like within 2 seconds!
I like the remote which use bluetooth, no need to point at the tv. But sadly there is no way to re-program the apps buttons.
How could Hisense no cater for this usability? Do they think everybody in the world will use the same apps?

Same problem with the VIDAA OS, no way to remove those pre-installed apps but luckily can re-arrange it to move the useless apps to the other end and out of sight.
Too bad no mewatch apps, not that I really use it but I was surprise I could use the browser apps to view it. So at least there is a workaround.

The TV apps starts pretty fast, as good as no wait time. I wonder if Google TV has such good response time too?
I still wonder if I should have get a TV with Google TV instead of VIDAA and get such good response and snappy feel.

Luckily I could use back my LG soundbar by connecting it to the HDMI eARC.
It sounded much better compared to the old LG TV, probably due to newer audio technology?

The Youtube apps is good, but have to suffer the adverts.

Oh yeah the screen share works really well from my Xiaomi phone too, no lag at all.

I find the sound level from Youtube is pretty loud, but when switch to Netflix I need to increase the volume much more to get the same loudness as Youtube. This seems to be a common issue for Netflix.
