Buying anything locally singapore is a massive rip-off... Especially electronics
7000RM for 65U7K + Xbox SX = ~$2070sgd
Shopee 65U7K standalone = $3259 sgd
Lazada 65U7K standalone = $2659 sgd

Rampant and uncontrollable profiteering by SG cartel distributors, recommend import. Even pay 8% gst also cheaper
Heard the shipment goes to malaysia and transhipment out. But its hearsay.

So after close to 18mths of owning the Hisense U7G, just received the very first OTA firmware update. Overall color scheme of the user interface is changed. Viu app available for download in Vidaa app store but still no Mewatch. Apart from that, not sure what else is changed though they did mention some bug fixes.

Found an issue since the firmware update. Now when playing videos using the built in media player application, the videos are stretched to fill the full screen instead of maintaining aspect ratio. So lets say for 16:9 videos the black bars are no longer visible but the stretch to fill seems to cause some cropping of the video to occur. Aspect ratio setting is blacked out and can't be adjusted when using the media player.
I use the built in media player to play 4k encoded videos since my tv box cant decode such files so this is a really irritating problem to have.

Upon further testing, found the reason and solution for the above mentioned issue. So now the media player has a Zoom Mode with 3 options Full, Fill (these 2 seems to pretty much do the same thing) and Original size. For 4k resolution videos, to display in proper aspect ratio with black bars you have to select Original size. The irritating thing is that the application always defaults to Full instead of remembering your selection. So next time you run the app, you would have to select Original size again.

But this causes an even bigger problem when trying to play 1080p or lower resolution videos. Since the Original size option does what its name suggest, this happens

So in this case, you have to select Full or Fill to stretch the video onto full screen.

Idk why they made such a change to the media player with the new firmware since the previous version of the media player was able to flawlessly play and display pretty much every kind of video i threw at it. Tempted to feedback this to Hisense SG but i doubt anything would come out of it.

I don't remember whether the previous media player has this Zoom Mode or not, but i know previously there wasn't any issue with videos maintaining the correct aspect ratio regardless of the resolution. If you ask me, i would say go ahead with the firmware update if you dont use the built in media player. On the other hand, aside from Viu and Appletv being added to Vidaa app store, there hardly any other major changes so i don't consider this firmware a must to install.

Depend on size lol, why never indicate. Cheap if it’s 75, ok price for 65, expensive if it’s 55
Did a comparison of prices with Courts website since they are official reseller of Hisense and got the answer. If you think its possible that what is being sold for $4K+ at Courts will be going for $2k during Comex, i suggest better go back to sleep and continue dreaming.

Why not just indicate the size lol. Why make people go look up price via external shop.

Don't shoot the person trying to share information. Take it up with the comex facebook page or hisense themselves if you feel so aggrieved with the way they are advertising the promos.
