You have to look at your monthly expenses and see what can you cut. I religiously save 2k per mth but due to 2nd kid coming, i need to adjust my livestyle because i am not willing to cut my savings.

First thing i did was to cut newspaper subscription at around $30 per mth and i get the newspapers from in-laws place.

Try not to eat out so often and if you do, try to budget around $5 per meal. Don't buy drinks. Anyway drinking after a meal will cause indigestion.

Of course it is fine to indulge in cafe or affordable restaurants once in a while. Try not to spend lavishly or things that are unnecessary

1. Uob 1-account, about $100 per mth interest
2. Ocbc 360, about $100 per mth interest
3. Stock dividend, about $1000 per mth
4. Stock capital gain. About $500 to $1200
5. SRS
6. Term policies
7. 2 saving policies.
8. Few life polices.
9. Parent CPF MSS top up.

Cash value of my participating policies are in excess of 150k. Help to provide a good buffer for me, if needed.

Are u sure 250k is enough for financial independence? Unless ur living expenses are super low like less than 1k per month..

no probably not, enough for semi retirement......most important thing is it will buy me some freedom to do the things i want to do in life while im still young.go to australia and enjoy, chill on the beach all the day and do nothing,if need money just wait for dividend or go to the casino and play some poker.not easy to get 12k free money every year best of all u dont have to be at work in order for money to come to you,it come to you regardless.

Few things to add.

Go home everyday after work, keep a max of $5 for lunch, dont buy drink. Go back office drink water.
Chill with your friends once in a while(monthly?). Eat something good on weekend(fortnightly or monthly?)
Shop during GSS nia.
Buy insurance plan to cover yourself.

if you can live with a simple life, should be not difficult to save up.

ya lor.. how to save money nowadays lehh?? i dont really save money, i am a person more towards enjoying every moment. e.g travel and shop all i can when i am still young.. i worried when i am old in my 40s or 50s, even wan to travel, knee also aching, or body cannot take it.. so i rather spend my money while young in my teen years and 20s..:s13::s13:
