Personally, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many disruptions and economic downfall, the year 2020 is like a rollercoaster ride for me.

Was wondering if anyone has been saving up till the next time we can travel again?

HAHAHA is there any tips on saving, feel free to share here too! :)

This year has been bad, like really bad bad. My investments even lose around 50% paper losses earlier this year but at least now better.

Recently Singapore have started an air travel bubble that will replace quarantine with Covid-19 testing from Nov. 22 onwards so can travel ahh, but ahhh i heard the plane ticket is very expensive ehhh.... :(

For the tips on savings I don't have much tips HAHAHA maybe spend on what you need and not what you want:s13:

i think 2020 has been a harsh year to many and can't believe it ending soon already.

It is also important to constantly upgrade yourself and expand your contacts! Cause it never hurts to know people rite HAHAHAHA.:D

yea mannn I agree with it and I also think this year is very unfortunate. Such a waste this year, was cooped up at home cause got circuit breaker and all.

it is also definitely important to go for classes plus now with the SkillsFuture credit might as well make use of it!!

can go read this article is quite good!:s13:

2020 has taught me the importance of saving money HAHA I came across a saving plan that offers 2% returns, and I think that it is a rather value for money deal as compared to putting your money into a bank.

Any thoughts on this?
https://www.policypal.com/endowment-plans/flow/tiq/gigantiq

to me it is a very lousy deal,2% is for 10k and 1st year only. after that it is only 1%

it is good if you compare it with the 0.05% of banks.

dbs multiplier gives a much better rate.

The best thing about 2020 is it confirmed what exactly are my 'needs' and what are my 'wants'. I recently read an article with the opening "I recently had to reassess my long-held conviction that, at some fundamental level, I need to travel." and sniggered. Travel = need, really? WFH removed the need for daily travel, made the 'need' for a reliable mode of transport ie car, obsolete. Luxury items? oh come on.

My family and I have always been the 'low maintenance' type of family. We spend a lot of time in playgrounds and parks which cost nothing, but have much more fun than some expensive places. My kids asked why dont we have a car, but eventually concluded that sitting on the MRT and looking out of the windows during the journey is more entertaining than sitting in a car. We probably already know, but 2020 confirmed to us that our saving rates and lifestyle are sustainable, with a good buffer for increased spending, if -needed-.

I don`t know anything about investment or stocks but I see many people making money from stocks markets. Too many people are making money from stocks liao, even my friends who recently got into it are making money. Hmm, something is amiss. Chinese got a saying, when wind comes pigs also can fly.

2020 is ending, i am more concern about 2021 and 2022 as these 2 years are the aftermath.

I believe you may be right. A very big crash may be coming, it is just a matter of when! :s13:

My stocks were bought several years ago at cheap prices, so I can still get out at a good profit once I see initial big drop in prices, but those who DCA and keep buying at higher and higher price until now, good luck to them! =:p

Yes you are right, but only for people who has the cash to buy at crashed stock price (just like what I did previously).

Those people who DCA buy and hold without selling for long-term will not benefit because crash period is always very much shorter than rising stock price period, so if you DCA you are always buying more at more expensive price, so average out you still bought at very much higher price than people who bought only when stock price crashed.
