So i got alot of dm's and quotes asking how I quit smoking.
@Foetid
I believe there are some people who smoke/have friends who smoke, as someone who has smoked for over 23 years (start in Sec 3) till now 38 and just quit this year 6 months. I think i'll share so hopefully anyone who wants can follows suit
Now first off. What kind of smoker am I?
Got many diff kinds of smokers., some once a week smoker, some is drink then smoke..
im 1 pack a day smoker. wake up lim kopi smoke 2 stick at the smoking corner, walk back home 1 stick, go to bus stop 1 stick, wait for bus 1 stick, get down bus 1 stick, below office 1 stick... etc etc..
this is just on the way to work, so you can imagine how heavy i am.
first off, you must at least be "open" to the idea of stopping smoking. never ask u to make a decision to continue or smoke, just have an open mind to stopping smoking.
if you don't want to stop, and want to continue smoking then by all means continue, but if u read this means at least u have an open mind right?
so here are the steps i took.
1. Have an open mind and open to quit smoking
2. buy this book
https://www.amazon.sg/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/1405923318
3. read this book, it gave me all the info i used to quit.
4. join the stopsmoking reddit for emotional support.

5. Dont worry if u are unable to quit smoking or restart smoking.
6. Do not vape to take away the smoking urge!
The book is the sole reason i managed to quit. don't peep at the book and flip here and there, u must read it without spoilers.
AND DON'T CHEAPO GET THE PDF AND READ ON YOUR PHONE, GET THE PHYSICAL COPY SO U CAN FLIP the PAGES AND READ IT.
once you have read it, you will be armed with EVERYTHING you need to quit, you should pick a NON STRESSFUL time to quit, i can't say how important this is, this imo is the most important step, dont quit in the middle of audit or product launch, it doesnt mean cannot. just make things harder.

HPB got $50 if u manage to not smoke for 28 days.
my experience
day 1 - hardest day. u should quit on a evening before u quit (so when u sleep it also counts) next day was abit awkward, drink coffee no ciggarettes, all your usual activities something is lacking.
day 2 - even harder. reality starts to sink in that this is my life now, non smoking. sitting at the non smoking section is awkward (but just keep remembering what u read in the book) I feel like i lost my best friend, someone whose always there for me.
day 3 - 5 - insomnia, irritability (thats why i said pick a non stressful time to quit), intense urges to smoke, but just remember it comes in waves. i keep tell myself when the urge come i will tong for 1 hour and if i still wanna smoke after that i will allow myself, after 10-15mins the urge goes away)
all these time, i feel abit sad, depressed, like i lost my best friend.
from day 5 onwards, its easier le. keep out of stressful situations, AVOID ALCHOHOL, and keep remembering the book stuff.
day 7 onwards same thing, remember the book stuff , you will begin coughing up gunk in your lungs, the intense cravings should be manageable by now
day 10-15, sense of smell returns, food smells good, tastes better, when you smell other smokers, you cringe, its really damn smelly.
for myself, after i got past the 10th day, i knew i was never going to smoke back again.
for the rest of the experience..TBC. i need to go back to work, later then type.
